Root root your mytouch 3g!!!

hello, i hope im not too late for posting this. i found this link, i was able to go through and complete the steps successfully.

How To: Root Your Android Phone (SuperOneClick Method) | TheUnlockr

i was wondering if anybody knows by rooting in OS 1.5 or 1.6 or 2.2.1 (which i did for 2.2.1) will it effect performance in anyway or the apps being downloaded? my dilemma is after installing, and reading the SUPERCSDI was so good, i didnt know if flashing rom would work in 2.2.1, i tried and failed. it only showed the htc green screen over and over... stupid thing is i didnt backup. well i fix that now, back on the G1 homescreen on mytouch 3g. now im afraid of installing anything or rooting until i know for sure this can be done w/o conflicts. so 1.5 root or 2.2.1 root? does this make any difference at all in layout/preferences/performance and compatibility?:thinking:

also what roms will WORK 100%? does i have to look at some radio # or model number and to match up with the ROM requirements? if so please point me in the right direction...i hate the sluggishness of 2.2.1 but like a lot of the apps offered that arent for 1.5 or 1.6...

thanks, please get back with me on this asap!

DON'T use that guide, it's old. SAPPIMG and 1.5 will bring you back to the oldest radio/spl which aren't compatible with newer roms.

Stay on 2.2.1, use superoneclick to root, install rom manager, flash recovery, flash ezterry's 614 kernel, then use setcpu and set your clock to 528 min/614 max.

That's the best that phone will ever run, I've tried it every which way.

If you don't mind Donut, Dwang's Donut or cm4 with ezterry's kernel and new radio/spl will be FAST, but you might not be compatible with some apps.

Just type superoneclick root into google. It's easy.
