Average Battery Life???

I am just curious what type of average life are you getting out of your batteries, extended and regular?

I have been having issues after I reset my phone. Went from amazing battery life to god awful. And did your battery life increase as you used your phone more?

Two nights ago, I removed my phone from the charger and did the same for my wife's. Woke up the next morning to my DEAD as hell phone and my wife's had 64% left!!!! I made sure they both had WiFi on, GPS off, Sync off (or whatever that thing is for FB, Twitter, etc.) and they had nothing running in the background except the OS, exchange, and other necessary evils.

I uninstalled Contract Killer game that morning after seeing the results and the next night, both phones held their charge all night. Contract killer was not running the first night, but I did notice it running throughout the following morning, so I uninstalled it.

We both get a full work day out of our phones. I bought the extended battery, but haven't used it. I use the crap out of mine and it still is chugging along at 6:30pm.

Average battery life really depends on how you treat them. I've found that recharging the battery when it's not almost dead wear and tears it. But if you need help with keeping your battery alive, check out Android Battery Life Optimization Guide ~ Android Advantage I've had a lot of people with problems and a lot of people found my article beneficial.

But to directly answer your question, My battery lasts all day with pretty heavy usage.

Nearly impossible to get results that you can compare with yours as usage scenarios vary so dramatically.

Having said that my battery life is so good on the stock battery, that my extended battery sits in a little box in my closet. Off a single charge I get 14-18 hours during the week and 30+ hours on the wknds. Rooted and tweaked

Everything except Bluetooth on, full default sync, heavy use. I was in Wi-Fi most of today and got 15 hours with 15% left. Extended battery

I am using the extended battery, phone is rooted but on stock rom, wifi on, bluetooth and gps both turned off, I get about 20+ hours out of my extended battery on my average work day. My average work day consists of reading/writing emails and checking the news, bank apps, google.com, hardly any music or videos or games. I think a big part of my success is that where I work I get 4 full bars of 4g so the phone has no problem maintaing 4g connection and almost never switches to 3g, and when im at home the exact opposite happens where I have no 4g where I live so the phone is in 3g the whole time or on wifi so its almost never searching for signal or going back and forth between 3g/4g.

I'm gonna be real! I love this phone, one of, if not the Best Android Device that I've ever owned...Hands Down! The wow factor continues to get me to this day...

However...Battery life is basically terrible! I'm in NYC, have wide spread 4G, and pretty much use this phone as I've used all my other Android Devices... About 40-50 text messages per day, an hour total talk time is average on a normal day, an hour total or so with the Blue Tooth turned on in the car, screen brightness at 50%, moderate web browsing, and a few You Tube Videos here and there. I also have Beautiful Widgets with the weather set to update every 4 hours on my Home Screen.

Now also keep in mind that I don't have GPS hardly ever turned on which is a major battery drain, and I'm still only getting about 5 hours max without looking to plug my phone in. Previously with my Droid Charge I was getting about 10-12 hours on a single charge with pretty much the same use. As for the Bionic I was getting anywhere from 8-10 hours on the regular which I attribute to the LCD, and the speedy dual core eating up some battery life. And finally about 6-8 hours with the Razr before I went out and got the Nexus!

So the pattern is pretty much in decline, and I'd say the speed and quickness of the precessors may be to blame? Who knows! Either way the Nexus is not really winning any awards here.

Hopefully an update will maybe bump my use up to say where the Bionic was at anywhere from 8-10 hours on any given day...With how fast this thing is, and with the Amazing screen, as well as call quality, I'll gladly take it!

I don't think that suggestion is all that helpful. There are things that root can provide that can help with battery, but simply rooting the phone will have no effect.

Running a different ROM will change the battery use and over/underclocking a rooted device have an even larger impact.

Using a custom kernel and ROM, yesterday I still had 32% left after 14 hours of heavy texting and wifi use, and some 3G and 4G use.

Which was more than good enough for me because the longest I go without a charger on a daily basis is maybe ~12 hours.

Had the phone for a week, but yesterday was my first day back at work. I have the extended battery. Great 4G connection all day and for the 8+ hour in the office all day I only lost ~~31%~~ 21% from a full-ish charge (so I was at ~~69%~~79%, but it may not have been at 100% when I took it off the car charger). That is around what I got with my DroidX. Also my 3g signal seems to be better then with my DroidX and I seem to get 4G in areas where 3g used to be finicky. I can't completely prove my signal quality as I am driving for most of those observations.

While I was home all last week I had the standard battery for 2 days and the extended for 4 days. Both performed in line with what my DroidX exhibited when connected to wifi all day. Maybe slightly better.

These battery threads would be so much more helpful if people would post screen shots of the battery history screen and the screen on time screen, or at least make mention of the screen on time in their posts.

Heavy usage for one person is not the same as heavy usage for the next person. It also matters if the user was on WiFi or LTE or 3G. All these things matter. It's impossible to compare otherwise.

Frankly, it is impossible to compare battery life with anyone with any sort of accuracy. All those things mentioned above - PLUS your own personal habits - drastically affect battery life.

With the Nexus, my phone's greatest hit is no longer the screen (full auto - I'll take the slightly too dim display). That's huge to me. I manually turn off my screen between uses. Doesn't sound like much, but if you're on a 30 second time out? That can add up over the day - upwards of 10-15 minutes of "extra screen time on". Will that affect the battery? Sure.

It is my experience that the people that complain about battery life in general? Are those that do nothing to optimize it - treating their phone like a walkie-talkie or something. They have battery draining Live wallpaper running. They have Facebook on 30 second updates, mail every minute, weather every 5 minutes. Then they turn around and complain they need a task killer.

4G is a battery sucker. You want "faster than home internet" speeds on your phone? You're going to pay for it in battery life. You don't work, live and commute next to a 4G tower? You're going to be switching back and forth - which drains battery like mad.

There are sooo many factors involved - and it isn't a simple bullet list.

My question to all off you seeing such great battery life is: did you see such great battery life out of the box or did it improve over time?

I had great battery life and then I rooted and my battery life went to hell. I don't get how it would drop when I was getting such great battery life before.

I saw great battery life on the second day. First day I was loading everything up and playing with it until it died. Then I fully charged it and used it as I normally would.

As far as what is great battery life, it is different for every user. As I said above (and I was off by 10% so it even better then I first stated), it is as good as my Droid X before while leaving on 4g and not using it differently. I'm going to test leaving on wifi, but not connected, during a normal workday tomorrow. I am currently testing leaving on bluetooth, but not connected, during a normal workday (negligible different @ 8 hrs).

I do have to say I get an excellent 4g signal while in my office, so that may have to do with my good battery life.

I would get anywhere from 14-17 hours with substantial use. (its still getting a lot of new toy action). I found the biggest drain on my battery was the weak 4G signal in my house. I live in the suburbs of Philly and must be kind-of on the edge of the 4G coverage. In reviewing my battery stats I found that my phone was reporting time without a signal at up to 6% (previously I've never seen anything but 0% on my Droid). I turn off 4G while I am at home and it makes a big difference....at least in the last 2 days. Yesterday I got over 24hrs.

On stock batt I get about 8hrs on heavy use, that includes games, web surfing, youtube etc. Average I get about 15hrs, light usage over 24hrs.

On CyanogenMod 7 I got around 14 hours of "moderate use" after the battery was calibrated. Now that I'm on a ROM with HTC Sense 3.5 I get around 10-14 hours (I recently flashed and it varies a lot).

I've noticed that the longer you go after a flash the better your battery life will be as the battery calibrates (and there are tutorials about how to re-calibrate, so that may help some of your batteries).

If you're having problems maybe try checking some of your refresh intervals (they come enabled by default but for some apps like News and Weather you may not even want it to auto-refresh if you don't use it) and check your WiFi sleep settings. Check out this guide Increasing Android Battery Life and see which of those things apply to you (if you're rooted, if yuo use a live wallpaper, etc.)

My battery life is pretty good (not sure anyone can claim it's "great" on this phone). I typically go 12-16 hours between charges and get 2+ hours of screen on time. I haven't noticed much of a difference over the three weeks I've had my phone. If anything, battery life has decreased a bit since I now have several apps installed that pull data that I didn't have my first few days.

A few tips I noticed have helped with this phone and my former Incredible. 1) Use wifi if/when possible, 2) don't keep GPS or bluetooth on unless you're using them, 3) keep the screen around 50% brightness except when you really want/need 100%, 4) turn the screen off after use as opposed to letting it time out, 5) ensure you don't have apps updating every 10/15 minutes that don't need to be (such as Facebook, weather widgets, Twitter apps, etc.).

If I charge my phone full before bed and wake up 8 hours later, I typically have 92-95% battery remaining (leaving wifi on overnight).

I use the extended battery as my primary.

With a day of normal use (probably lighter than many people here) I usually hit 15% after 18-20 hours with the extended battery.

I don't understand this phone. I have a LTE Galaxy Nexus, and I love this phone to death. But with the screen on (at 15% brightness), it will easily eat up 10% in 15minutes of on screen time. Is my phone defective or what? GPS is off, I have no widgets, CDMA is on LTE is off, Facebook is not installed.
10% in 15minutes of use is horrible in my opinion, my thunderbolt did years better. I should also note that I have a extended battery and am running stock 4.0.2 with unlocked/rooted phone.
I just want to know if I should exchange my phone by the 15th of the month or what. While idle this is phone is awesome, it gets about 2-3hours of idle with LTE on only eating 10%, as soon as I turn the screen on, boom, it starts eating away.

I generally get about 5 or 6 hours with fairly heavy use. The extended battery adds maybe 45 or 60 minutes. BUT, after playing with a couple settings I have now been able to extend that (at least for the past 2 days) by turning off email sync to only when I go into the mail app. I went almost 9 hours today with texting, web browser, a couple very short phone calls, words with friends a couple times and the tapatalk app.

As discussed in a thread on vzw nexus forum, keeping WiFi on all the time seems to help battry life significantly even when not connected to wifi source. With 3g mode, WiFi on, my Nexus goes nearly full day under moderate usage. Some others are having good increase in battery life using Juice Defender, but I don't feel like I need it. Using 4G will reduce it roughly by half.

i had an odd day just the other day my phone lasted 1 day 5 hours 11minutes 32 seconds before i swapped to my extra battery.

I unplugged Saturday around 11:13AM. Had BT off GPS off Wifi always on, i also traveled throughout the day and it lasted amazingly well. Went to bed around 1AM with 51 percent left, woke up with 41 percent left then i used it a bit more than the previous day but it still lasted until around 4:30PM without issues, i did a battery swap at that time with 5% left. The odd thing is that Saturday i used it throughout the day a bit and the battery drain was minimal, but throughout the night the drain was 10% which is a bit high if the phone should be 100 percent in deep sleep, i noticed that throughout the night it "woke" quite a few times which was a bit odd. Specifics below:

android OS 21% cpu total 1h 26m Keep Awake 5h 33m

Screen 40% 2h 28m

On CPU Spy my phone was in deep sleep 89% of the time.

I have screen shots but am at work so i can't quite take the time to upload them and put them on here.

Average Battery Life???
