SGP Steinheil Galaxy Nexus Screen Protector

Here are some pics of my SGP Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I was actually able to get it on without any bubbles or dust...thank god. The pics are with just the screen protector and the the protector with my Seidio Active case.

I had the standard Verizon screen protector on before and this one feels much better and looks amazing. The only negative is the size. Top to bottom is just a sliver short. With my Seidio Active case, you almost can't even tell.

With that said...there's a lot more of unprotected screen on the sides. This screen protector could be made a millimeter or two wider. It doesn't have to go all the way to the edge as most cases would cover up the leftover, but as you can see in the pics...it does need to be wider. Now odds are, I probably won't ever get anything that close to the edge, but I'd feel a lot safer if the coverage width wise was just a tad more.

Steinheil is usually my go-to screen protector whenever I get a new phone. I LOVE THEM.

It bothers me a lot when a screen protector is not edge-to-edge...like the ones Verizon always sells. Steinheil step it up! The edge-to edge screen protector I got with my Diztronic is flawless and beautiful. Love it. Steinheil where you at?!

I have the same protector as the OP... clarity is excellent on the Steinheil Ultra series. I had an Ultra Crystal on my Droid X and it was the only screen protector I've ever used where I was happy with the clarity.

The only rainbow effect I can see is when you're viewing the screen from an almost 90-degree angle (i.e. almost straight across) there is a noticeable rainbow effect on the curved part of the screen. This is only noticeable because of the screen curve, it's just something I observed last night - totally invisible in all normal use.

As with all glossy screen protectors, there is an increase in reflection off the screen. It's not bad, but I've never used a glossy protector that did not slightly increase reflection. It's really my only complaint with this. Well that, and I'd like it to be full coverage but I believe they are erring on the side of never having the edges come up and get stuff under them. I'd rather have a slightly-too-small screen protector than one whose edges peel up that I have to clean under.

The clarity of the screen is great. I don't see hardly any smudging on the screen and it doesn't distort the images at all. The only reason I know there's something there is that I can see the edge...but that stops just past the viewable area on the screen. These things are wonderful.

My only complaint is that I wish they were a little wider. They don't have to go to the edge of the screen...I just wish they got a little closer so that when you put a cover on, it hides the gap.

Other than that...these things rock. Images is crystal clear. No orange peel affect. No fingerprint smudges. If you can handle the fact that there will be a slight edge of the screen exposed...definitely get them.

I have the SGP Ultra Oleo as well and love it. It's just as clear as the Ultra Crystal I had on my Dinc. I do wish it was edge to edge, but I can live with it. I have the Seidio surface case on my phone so it is less noticeable.

Will you post a photo of your Nexus with the Seidio case and SGP Ultra Oleo skin? I currently have the XO skin but may change it and I have the Sedio Surface case coming today.

I have the Steinhell Super Oleo and it is the worst grease magnet I have ever seen. It is much worse than a bare screen and MUCH worse than the Steinhell matt finish I had on my DroidX(2). I will keep it because I prefer to have a protector and hate the rubbery ones. But it is a pretty big disappointment compared to my prior experience. It also distorts much worse because it collects oil so much. I looks and works great when clean though.

edit: And by the way I am pretty confident in saying that the factory car dock would peel the edges up if the screen protector extended to the edges. Another reason they can't make a dry apply that covers the whole screen.

I LOVE my Steinheil Oleo on the Nexus as I did my Steinheil Crystal on my Dinc. As with any screen protector, cleanliness when installing is a must. I'm likely to purchase some of the cheap protectors from monoprice.com just to put on to compare quality (I can afford the $2 or so to satisfy a curiosity). The Steinheil is worth every penny for the two you get in the pack. If I for some unforeseen reason go through the two Steinheils before my next MUST HAVE phone (likely in a couple of years), I'll be purchasing another set of Steinheils.

I bought the wet apply steinheil and just applied it tonight, like the texture and it applied well, except that there are weird markings on the protector, really hard to explain but supposedly they go away after a few days or something.

Hopefully that's the case.

Here's a picture of what I meant, it's like it's bubbled and kind of scraped but it's neither.

I started with the oleophobic and loved everything about it except that it did not completely cover the screen. Each protector (two in the package) lasted about two weeks before the edge got a little jagged. I loved the resistance to smudges, the look and lack of drag. I switched to the flex the other day. The wet application was very easy, no bubbles at all. The fit is perfect, complete coverage edge to edge. It is very clear, smooth Swyping and very little orange peel. The only negative about the flex is that it's not oleophobic and shows lots of smears. Don't let the wet application scare you, it is actually easier than the dry imo.
