Nexus slow in locking on to network?

I think it is a CDMA/LTE thing. Remember that your phone has 2 different radios in it. It will always lock on to the strongest signal first CDMA and usually rtt (1X) then move on to CDMA (3G) only to connect to LTE last once it confirms that there is a proper signal to lock on to. In a weaker 4G area this may take a little bit longer, but I don't think your time is too far outside the norm.
