[Verizon] What's your pick for best kernel for battery life

Ok, so then right now there is no way to get to just stock rom and custom kernel then?

If you are looking for something close to stock I would suggest [ROM][Wookie Gonna Getcha Final - RootzWiki

It is 4.0.3 and doesn't have any tweaks like most roms. You would need to flash gapps with it since they aren't included.

If you don't want to flash a rom you need to choose a 4.0.2 kernel. There are some out there but you shouldn't expect as much support since most roms are now 4.0.3

Nope, I am looking at moving up to 4.0.3, just didn't know if I could get with stock rom. Thanks for the answer.

I see that most of the kernels are using SetCPU to UV and OC, but looking in the market the latest version of SetCPU doesn't say it supports the Galaxy Nexus, but it must still work.

Everyone says they are getting good battery life on these lean kenrels, what roms are you running with them?

Market version of SetCPU works fine for me. I have used Imo's kernels as long as I can remember (Back to the TB) His kernels were stock on some of the previous roms I ran on the Gnex and had great battery life, I flashed liquid's newest rom this morning and it has a jdkoreclipse kernel I am not too thrilled with. I will be flashing back to one of Imo's kernels tomorrow morning. More than likely the newest lean kernel.

So, you are going to change your kernel but stay on Liquid's ROM? Is that Liquid's Ice Cream Sandwich ROM? The link to that rom in the rom/theme section leads to a thread that has no download link now...says he has a new thread with the new version.

I to started using Imo's kernels when I was on the TBolt, haven't looked back since. LOVE them. I was a Chevy man on my OG Droid, until the whole Milestone App came out, then I just stuck with the stock CM kernel and overclocked with Milestone.

I don't know how he does it but it's like Imo programs his kernel just for my phone lol...

Yeah I started with Chevy on the OG Droid then went to Imo on the TB. I just didn't feel like flashing a kernel this morning when I flashed the rom and my phone is crying about it now ;)

I think this is a tough call because there are so many roms and kernels, some of which you can UV, different governors, OC capability, you name it. So perhaps a post with the rom, kernel, governor and UV if applicable might be better served.

Rom: AOKP v.13, Franco kernel nightly 1/5 conservative governor, setcpu OC when plugged in only..interactive gov.

Yesterday I ran normal activities about 8 hours wifi, 7 hours 4G, moderate to light use relatively speaking, plugged in at 15 hours off charge with 50%. If I had received a lot of phone calls then it would have obviously been much lower. Oh yeah, one more thing. Which battery? I have the extended from vzw which I don't believe does anything.

+1 for Imoseyen's Lean kernel here. In my case, paired with AOKP Milestone1 ROM. 12 hours 1 minute on battery with 37% left, and that's after a big drop earlier in the day when I was messing around with the boot image.

Edit: Screen on time about an hour and a half.

Anther +1 for Lean Kernel. I'm running AOKP Build 13 w/ Lean Kernel V1.3.0. I initially tried playing with SetCPU yesterday and noticed absolutely ABYSMAL battery life. I had underclocked and undervolted to the lowest stable settings and only managed 8hrs on freaking 3G. I decided to reflash the kernel, uninstall setcpu and wipe the dalvik. I've been unplugged since 6am now (5.5 hours) and am only down to 74 percent, equally out to a 20 hour battery life.

And thats on 4G. TWENTY FREAKING HOURS ON FOUR GEE!!! :D:D

Thanks for the info. So, you are running the AOKP kernel? Which ROM are you running?

I agree with the extended battery. That is what I have and really don't see much difference from the standard battery. Guess that's why VZW marked it down 50%, felt sorry for us suckers that were going to buy it thinking it would help :D

Hey man you got a Gnex?

I recall you stating that you could not swing a Gnex. I guess Santa was good to you?

Yep, I got one. Wasn't me saying I couldn't get one (don't think it was...lol). My business always pays for mine, so I'm never out any $$$ when I upgrade. Plus, I needed another tax deduction expense (my business did) before the end of the year :)

+1 for Franco kernel.

I'm enjoying Lou's on stock 4.0.2 so far. Don't want to install a ROM yet, so it's the only one really available.

Works fine and the battery life seems great so far. 70% after 10 hours today (conservative governor).

I've always run on interactive governors...until the gnex, this is the first phone I've had that I didn't mind underclocking and running a conservative governor, both of which should help with battery ;)

I've always run ondemand on the Inc and Eris. This is the first time I've liked running Interactive(X) as ondemand, so far with the kernels I've tried, is a dog. I've hear the Interactive gov was reworked for ICS  Imo's 1.2.0 doesn't have a conservative gov, but I'd like to try it on my next kernel flashing binge. Franco's has it and reports are very good so far with it.

I flashed Imo's most recent experimental this morning. I didn't check to see if it had conservative. Yesterday when I was running jdkoreclipse I used it. The basics behind interactive should be the same on ICS the build may be different with the new source. Just because the build changes the function of the governor should remain the same seeing as an interactive governor on linux is the same as an interactive governor on Android.

I like the idea of interactive (and Imo's interactiveX) more than on demand.
