Galaxy S II Coming To Metro It Seems?

you know i cant wait until metro gets another phone. ya the lg esteem was a good improvement but it just plain sucks and is full of bugs. my indulge with a custom rom on it was the most stable phone ive had. the esteems biggest and most annoying issue for me is the BLUETOTH it is absolutely horrible. everything about their bluetooth radio and software is just terrible it never works properly and is very unpredictable and ALLL applications that require bluetooth do NOT work properly. not considering the random restarts. i have had at several times second thoughts about it and almost switched to sprint until i realized metro is 10 times better than sprints crappy wimax which cant even get through your car or house walls haha. so damn crappy just while i was at the store 2 people came in to cancel their plan! and the people at the store didnt even have 4g. in the middle of san jose! but i would have switched to the indulge again if it werent for the screen and most of all the terrible overheating which i learned is mainly caused by the hummingbird processor. so any samsung phone with a snapdragon would work great for me. id love to have a samsung again. the bluetooth support on that phone was just great as well as the overall stability.

Sorry to say this but i think you are being baised. My esteem right now is in top notch condition, still surprised at its performance with the custom ROM, as of right now it could compete with the iPhone 4. moreover, my phone had been working flawlessly with no issues whatsoever, so please don't classify the esteem as "plain sucks". Recognize that you have gotten a defected phone and that all phones are different. Lg supposedly working on an update...

i gotta agree with jey i got mine on december 21 and its never restarted on me not even once. one thing i gotta admit the battery on the lg esteem has lasted more for me than my old indulge, whats crazy is it has a bigger display so i would assume it would use more voltage to power that and has camera flash and 2 cameras and while using it all my battery life on my esteem still almost last all day.

For those saying that metro doesn't get the super high end phones like other carriers for cheap this is why. Metro gives you a mid range phone for $300-$400 and charges $60 for unlimited calls, text(international) and data. On the other hand verizon sells you a high end phone for $300 but youre stuck with them for 2 years. Verizon charges you $70 for unlimited calling, $20 for unlimited texts and $100 for 12GB of data which is the closest they now offer to unlimited at a $10 per GB overage fee. The verdict metro $60 w/tax and verizon $190+ tax. Sounds like a great deal to me and my wallet. :D

wait theres a custom rom now? if there is somebody please point me in the right direction. and i guess you are right about the esteem being very stable BUT only if u dont get close to bluetooth or try to use it while tethering for prolonged periods of time. it will restart and takes forever to startup again. again my main reason for frustration is the bluetooth. i went through 2 of these phones and my friends. all have the same problem with bluetooth. it will work randomly. never connect automatically even when paired. it will lose connection. stop working or restart if i play with bluetooth toomuch. voice control wont work because the phone does not recognize the handset properly after a restart you would need to unpair and pair again for it to sometimes work. i went over this with 2 different voice control app developers. bluetooth wont work with any app i tried. so when comparing to indulge in terms of that it is worse otherwise i would not switch back to indulge

can u give me a quick overview of how ur esteem looks? in terms of software. do u have the optimizer? what apps do u have uninstalled? frozen? id like to compare. it would b great if we had a thread where everyone could put that up. maybe some apps are causing certain issues. although i have had the same issues when stock before any modifications.

The fact that you have to root and put a custom rom. Just to make the esteem what its not, proves its not a good phone. I am done with metro and their 1 - 4 megs a sec slow "3g" supposed 4g. The esteem Is the best phone metro has. That aint saying much. I didnt have reboot issues either. But after having the gs II for a week now it really shows me how crappy of a phone it is. I havent even thought about a custon rom ob the gs II. Why? U ask. Because its just that smooth. The esteem was clunky. Heavy. The display wasnt no where near that of the revolution. Plus the guy at verizon said that nobody wants the revo and its not that great of a phone. The revos specs are better than the esteem as for display and internal memory. STILL . people dont want it. I finally sold my esteem last night and never looking back at metro or their shit selection of phones. We also cant forget about their customer service and lack thereof. I wouldnt say my opinion is biased. Considering i had the phone with no reboot issues and it still wasnt worth a damn.:) and yes lg and the esteem "plain sucks"

i couldnt agree with u more. but verizons prices are rediculously high and i cant live without unlimited internet i am always on the go and always running my tablet and laptop from my phone and netflix all day. however metros internet speeds are more than sufficient to run anything on a phone, at least in my area. having anything above 2mbps on a phone or even for running as a router is absolutely unnecessary and pointless. i like metros service and coverage in my area but i hate their crappy selection of phones. i dont mind paying 800 for a phone so at least make it an option.

Yeah verizon is way to pricey. Their coverage aint bad. I just got sick of having to pay 300 for a outdated phone that another carrier couldnt sell. Lol. But i guess for 60 unlimited we can deal with the little things :)

Also even if they got a gsII they would rip out the internal memory, lower the resolution on the display. And who knows what else just so they can make it affordable.

For the least agree with you. however in my perspective this is based on your "own" opinion. and not, you necessarily don't need to root or flash a ROM to make the phone better. Rooting is just a way to open the door of freedom for your own phone that you have bought. It unlocks the "true phone" capabilities. Also the esteem has been a little "downgraded" from the revo to make the price affordable for the customers, but even so the phone is the same thing. Technically the phone is fine as it is, and really fine. And people not wanting them doesn't mean it a bad phone, lol. In fact many people have bought the revo...

Of course the esteem a mid-range device but you have to considerate the prize difference. You are comparing an gs2 to an esteem. Of course the performance difference will be quite noticeable. But come on, 600+(unlocked) - 250: you do the math!. Even so with my phone clocked at 1.9ghz the phone feels flawless.

Regarding to metropcs' network, I think you have heard, but metrocps is ready at this year to move from cdma to lte with great Lte speed improvement, meaning they'll uncap their speed and whatnot.

What i want to say is that by taking consideration the prices of Verizon, T mobile, etc, metropcs' plan with the esteem is really a big Plus. I would be saving lot of pennies and still have a GOOD phone with a decent 4g speed soon to be better (depending on your area). So yeah, I would rather be on metropcs with esteem at a cheap prize for its value for my usual need and UNLIMITED.

I appreciate your feed back, and your opinion. I agree with you. Metro is a good value for cheap that offers pretty much the same thing other companys do at a lower cost. I been reading there gonna uncap the 4g on metro this year. I wanna see how it turns out. Only if they had better phones. I wasnt impressed with the esteem or lg products in general. But that connect 4g looks worth it imo.

Yeah. As soon as they start shipping out dual cores phone I might get it. Specially if it is g2x or gs2 equivalent!!!

We certainly do...;

Just flash the cwr (very essential ). Flash the gingersteem extreme rom and look into rom toolbox for additional tweaks. You'll be surprised how fast it'll run. Follow the threads.

+1

this point needs to be emphasized more.

4mb down is indeed sufficient enough to stream any media there is out there without rebuffering. thats what i get here in detroit. i've never had issues with streaming video needing to rebuffer.

plus all anyone is doing on their phone is streaming media. no one is downloading videos onto their phones, at the most very very seldomly.

good luck getting anything out of verizon's lightning speed 4g when you only have 2GBs to use per month. same with ATT and Tmobile(throttling).
