Build 12 of the Milestone rom with Fredrico's kernel

Stock, unlocked, and rooted. ICS is so smooth, just really haven't had the desire to jump into anything yet...but considering something either a rom or kernel for better battery life.

Accidentally clicked on "Other" instead of "Bone Stock"... I stayed stock when I rooted my OG Droid and plan to do the same here. I mostly just rooted to be able to use apps like Titanium Backup, and Set CPU (or the screen shot apps pre-ICS), so I don't plan to switch ROMs, I'm happy with the stock experience.

I'm to the point where I'm sampling what's out there.

[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.0.0 [Fully Open Source][HOT]

Running Codename Android right now pretty good so far just flashed yesterday.

I have run Axiom, AOKP, & Codename.
All three have been good to great. I qualify this statement based on the rom update. Axiom's developer stepped out from officially developing, however the last version 2.4 is great. It's sad that it won't continue to grow, beyond 2.4. This was one of my favorites because every release was stable , everything that was on stock ICS worked, and great battery life.

AOKP would vary a little more. Depending on the update, occasionally there would be bugs. The developer is pretty quick on addressing those. That's a trade off, because he is aggressive about implementing new features. Over all it's consistently great rom with occasional bugs. The bugs that have popped up are not huge and doesn't interfere with the use of the "phone".

Codename's latest release 1.1.4 has been awesome. I wasn't so impressed with release 1.1.1. That was compared to the other two roms. There wasn't a lot to distinguish them apart since this rom is officially kanged to the max. Meaning it borrows from other roms, but he gives credit where it's due. The current version has lots of customization, great battery life, and all original ICS features work. There is only one known bug. That is the app Light Flow lite. It causes a problem with 6 to 8 screen lock feature. He is working on it. If you don't use that app, it's not a problem. AOKP had that same issue, but it's been solved in the latest update.

When someone says a rom is great, you have to factor in the what is important to them and their usage. For myself, I need all ICS features to work as if stock or better. Customization options. Great battery life! I define great battery life by what I want to keep running and still get no less than 9hrs on stock battery, 1850 or minimum 11hrs on the extended battery, 2100. This would cover a minimum of 2.5 hrs screen time on at 30%, bluetooth on the entire time, 4g on the entire time, and wifi on the entire time.

I have also run Franco's kernel with all of them. Kernel 11 and the most recent 13, have produced the best results. The best results meaning, more than an hour of my minimum. I have averaged 11 to 12 hrs with close to 3hrs screen time, if I turn wifi off and only leave it on when I'm downloading something. On Axiom 2.4 with Franco's kernel #11, on a day with lighter usage (approx 2hrs of display and wifi, when needed), I have had upwards to 15hrs.

I could get more, if I ran my phone on 3g. I'm not interested because I live in a strong 4g area and it's a 4g phone.

+1 for CodeNameAndroid 1.1.4 and Franco Kernel. Originally had Rootzboat, then been on CodeNameAndroid since.

I am impressed by how many are out there already. My last phone was a DX and although there were only a few ROMS for it, the developers of those ROMs were incredibly supportive and dedicated.

With my history I decided to go where my favorite was for the DX -- Currently running APEX-- thanks FAB! Liberty and Apex were always my go to ROMs on the X-- they were stable and battery was always better than stock, which is one of my major GNex issues.
