Stupidly, yesterday I decided it would be a fantastic idea to bring my phone into the bathroom with me while I had a soak. I got a text message, and while replying, the very bottom of my phone went under water for like a second. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when I got a call today, the other person couldn't hear me. I don't have a clue about phones, and couldn't find anything about this problem, so it seems like most people aren't total idiots like me and take their phone into the bathroom with them... Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

I have always heard to take the battery out and leave the open phone in a bag of rice for at least 24 hours directly after dropping your phone in a liquid. The rice helps dry out the phone.

Unfortunately it has been a while and damage may have been done. Hopefully you are lucky!

Turn it off, take all parts out e.g. battery, sim etc, leave all compartments open and place in path of warm air for a good hour e g about a foot away from a hairdryer. Then put it on a bed of rice and place in a dry warm place like an airing cupboard for 48 hours. Don't be tempted to test it as turning it on too soon can cause damp connections to short out.

This is a tried and tested technique that has saved many phones in Desire HD and Galaxy S forums.

Yes....water can easily track up the phone from a source so you need to take the 'dry whole phone' approach. This has saved phones dropped in sinks, toilets, baths and screens run under taps by toddlers trying to clean the screen

you can also purchase some water proof covers... im also planning to get one...

i do go outside the bathroom wet hair i use the fone got wet also sometimes..get in or clog the speaker on top

Just make sure to not take the hair dryer closer in an attempt to dry faster or more completely - that will simply drive moisture deeper into the phone.

Yup, it's warm not hot air and propped up at least a foot away so it's just in the path of the air flow.

Taking the phone into the bath is not a stupid idea. I cannot say the same for dropping it in the water
