Nodders:
That link worked, and I succeeded in installing it manually on my Motorola Milestone (Canadian Droid) updated to Android 2.1. It does not appear for me in the Android Market, and doing a search for it at m.google.com/earth turns up a 'not found' error.
Google Earth works on the Milestone, but I see little value in it over Maps, which came installed on the Milestone. I'll leave it there as I have the room on the phone, but it is unlikely that I'll use it much, if at all.
My daughter has it on her recently purchased iPod Touch, and it works better on that unit than on my Milestone. It performs on her 'Touch' much like it does on my Linux laptop (Dell Vostro 1710), with the initial zoom from the globe to where you are currently located functioning normally. Not so on the Milestone. The globe just sits there until you zoom in on it manually. Too bad that apparently less care went into the Android version than the Apple version.
