Accessories freedom pro keyboard

I did get my Freedom Pro keyboard to pair and connect with my Droid X and it functions well with Documents to go but due to no mouse, touch-screen, et al. I doubt I will ditch my netbook anytime soon. I'm waiting for Verizon to get a new iPhone but my Droid X may still remain my device of choice for a smart phone, i.e. iPhone = no removable memory or battery, An extra device like any tablet just means three devices instead of two.

Sorry, I disagree almost completely. I love my Freedom Pro/DX combo and definitely see it as a netbook replacement. Laptop, not quite, but netbook, yes. Love the ultra compact form factor and my DX usually runs faster than my DH's netbook.

And, I personally wouldn't touch an iPhone with a 10 foot pole but then you did post this in the Droid X forum.

I love my Freedom + X combo as well, and was quite pleased that their 2.2 drivers run flawlessly on stock Gingerbread..

I have read about problems with the freedom keyboard such as frequent disconnections, etc. - you guys experience no issues with the keyboard whatsoever?

Nah. It's occasionally finicky to get it connected it at first, but once it's connected its been absolutely solid. I've never lost a connection once it's been established and I've been using it.

I did just occur to me that it DOES go into a sleep mode if it sits unused for a long enough period of time, but I don't think that's what you're referring to.

Freedom Pro keyboard plus DX = netbook, and the DX screen becomes the touchpad. Works brilliantly --- AND:

The FP case needs to be propped to become an angled support for the DX, putting the screen at the right angle, solidly enough to handle its touchscreen functions.

I will velcro a pocket to the FP case to hold the DX and an extra battery, making up a travel kit. Overall it's about half the volume of a netbook, with the same functionality and a full size keyboard.

These kids play well together.

@Notaguru: you do realize that kickstand for your phone is built into (and comes out of) your keyboard?

FP keyboard
DX unrooted 2.3.3

Suddenly, my FP keyboard is "Paired but not connected" -- and I can't get it straightened out. I've unpaired and repaired, etc.

I really NEED this to work!

Driver? There's a keyboard driver? My assistant set this up for me months ago - I didn't know there was a driver. Thanks - I'll look for it.

Pairing rejected by keyboard.
Tried all four combinations of HID/SPP, 0000/1234

There is a youtube video that walks through getting the driver and pairing the keyboard. It's using anorigional Droid running Eclair, but it still works on my phone with GB. I'd recommend watching it and making sure you follow it to a "T", incase something was overlooked.

Got a rapid response from Freedom --

When you type in the 0000 on the phone, you sometimes must also do it on the keyboard -- but there's no prompt to do so. All's well.

I love my Freedom Pro Keyboard with my DX too. One of the very first things I did was get it paired with my phone when I got my DX. I used an IR keyboard with my Palm T3 for several years, and now do the same trick with my DX.

I take a lot of notes during meetings, and my keyboard fits nicely hidden away in the inside pocket of my suit coat. When I get back to my desk from meetings, I sync my Word Doc with Documents to Go. I can quickly make any necessary modifications and then get the notes shared with anyone who I feel needs them.

My next phone will be chosen based on whether or not it pairs with a Freedom Pro keyboard.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]The Droid X does have SPP and HID, so you can connect the Freedom Pro in either of the two Bluetooth profiles. The difference is that in SPP you go through our drivers and you will be able to get more functionality from the keyboard to the phone. Below is a list of shortcut key combinations that you can perform on a Freedom Pro, whilst connected to an Android device such as the Droid X, by going through the drivers:

Following on form the last post -

Has anyone managed to get any of the Quick Keys to work, or be able to program them? I see in the Settings area how to program the F-keys, but I'm talking about the other keys on the FP - mainly the 6 Quick Keys on the left side. The only one that seems to work is the green Phone key. Messaging, Contacts, Calendar, etc do nothing. The Home key works (FN+Esc), but the Internet key doesn't (FN+I). The SK keys seem to work.

Sorry to raise this thread from the dead, but this just saved me. I had been able to pair my keyboard previously, but couldn't this time without this little tip about typing 0000 on the keyboard.
