Honestly I was able to return it more than once, I would ecstatic. I want to experience the nexus first hand to see if its really any better than this device. But if it doesn't than I want to feel comfortable enough to go back to the razr. Arg if only they limited the number of returns to 2 or 3, I would be golden. And I'm sure I could fight it but I hate stepping on others toes just to get what I want. That's the price I pay for being a good guy.

I just never cared enough. If I was that unsure of a purchase I would not have made it in the first place. I like to do my research first.

Same here. Every phone, TV, router, etc I got I researched it first. ...after the Omnia 1 came out. That experience taught me a lesson...lol. And for the most part I feel I did a good job. At the same time:

Research is well and good, but there are some things you need to experience for yourself with a phone before you can be sure it's the one for you that you're willing to happily use for the better part of 2 years. ;)

I agree. Hearing ppl talk about phone reception being good or fine on the G Nex piqued my interest. And from what I saw...for the most part some folks were right. And I live n work in a weak, bad, very weak, very bad reception area.

My experience with the G Nex and phone reception has made me realize we really need to try these phones out too before making a decision, or not keep going by past experiences with manufactures. Phone reception alone has caused me to really go back n forth on some things with the G Nex and Samsung phones in general. Make that all phones....the iPhone included.

Still got til the 14th to send it back or not. Still comparing some things to my RAZR. Maybe I will just see whats coming from CES and send it back. Chasing the latest n greatest might help my decision....lol. Also...the Rezound might get a test from me.

I posted the following in a similar thread:

I had a RAZR for a week before receiving my Galaxy Nexus. I can't even describe how much superior I find the Galaxy Nexus.

  1. While I admittedly live in a rather major metro area, the signal strength has been great for me both in and out of the city.
  2. The volume on the phone is more than adequate, and this is coming from someone who is often called deaf because of how loud I listen to music/TV.
  3. While the build of the RAZR is unique, it's very awkward to hold in portrait mode. I admit, my hands are not "big," but the Galaxy Nexus feels much, much more comfortable in the hand in portrait. That said, in landscape mode, the RAZR is awesome.
  4. 4.0 simply blows away 2.3, IMO. I know Moto has promised 4.0 for RAZR owners, but who knows when that will be. I had an Incredible prior to this phone and always waited several extra months for promised updates.
  5. The Galaxy Nexus will be supported by Google for a longer time than the RAZR will be by Moto.
  6. Look at the amount of interest in the RAZR vs. the Galaxy Nexus, even by number of posts on this forum. I realize it's a small sample size, but the RAZR does not appear to be doing all that great. This only means it will see less and shorter lived support from Verizon and Moto.

With all that said, both are fantastic phones. I just don't know why you'd spend the same amount of money for an inferior phone. Just my two cents though.

I had the Razr too for 2 weeks and have the same observations with the exception of #1. I actually found very little difference in the two radios (surprisingly). The Razr did slightly better in getting a signal in a very weak areas, but the Nexus did a better job of holding on to a 4G signal once both had it.

I would also add that the idea of a sealed battery also weighed against my final decision with the Razr.

The bottom line is, while the RAZR is a great phone, as they currently stand, the Galaxy Nexus is better. I can guarantee you that you will not regret swapping the RAZR for the Galaxy Nexus. You will, however, regret holding onto the RAZR when it takes several months for Verizon to update the RAZR with a Motofied version of ICS.

Agreed 100%.

I sat on the fence the first week, fretting about the radio, about the "blue dots," about the weak speaker, about the battery, about the camera.

Then I realized the longer I sat here reading these damned forums, the worse my indecision would grow.

I also realized the phone was selling too well for me to justify waiting around for the price to drop. Hell, WireFly is still higher than Verizon charged me for my renewal, and Amazon was still out of stock last I checked.

I'm glad I jumped off the fence. The radio has been problem free other than Verizon's network outages. The "blue dots," if they're there, haven't bothered me. The speaker is fine, even for listening to a pod cast while washing dishes with the kids playing nearby. The camera is great, despite requiring a little bit of patience in learning its peculiarities.

I'm not saying the Nexus is better than the Razr (or Rezound or iPhone) in any of these categories, but it all works for me. And the screen, OS, interface and form factor make my decision easy.

(Yet I'd love to test a Rezound for a day or two!)

I followed Nexus since September but didn't buy on the launch day. Just wanted to see the initial impression from others first. Then all sorts of horror stories popped out though some of them looked like trolling. I decided to give it try myself and was going to return if it really sucks for me, especially the signal reception part. Fortunately it works fine as phone where I live. Camera is not stellar but good enough for me. Speaker volume is a little lower than I like but not terrible. Other than those, everything else lives up to what I expected, gorgeous screen, ICS, fluid UI, browsing. Even battery is pretty good than I expected.

But I wish 4G connection would be better as it tends to drop in less than good areas. Based on reports of users in weak areas, it seems like 3G/4G hand over can get stuck and lose data. So I agree that Nexus is relatively weaker on reception than other 4G phones as it is now. Also battery life could be even better if ICS is further updated to use less CPU in idle state. We are still on the first version of ICS since release, so I anticipate gradual improvement with updates. Hopefully they can fix the signal issue on Nexus because now Charge, Stratosphere work almost as well as Rezound on signal reception when I tested them. They are easily best single core 4G phones on verizon, IMO.

Rezound really changed my perception on HTC. Looks like they got their acts together to address all the issues found on Tbolt. If Gnex didn't work for me, my choice would have been Razr. But now I'm not sure. LG Spectrum with the same spec as Rezound is coming soon at just 199. It's got larger battery 1830mAh, but no Sense. Will see what kind of phones are announced at CES as I have second upgrade coming in late summer.

Ok just another quick question, If I do return the Razr and decide to wait on the Nexus or some other device, I can just switch back to my Inccredible 2 correct? I dont HAVE to get another phone if I dont care too...right?

Yes, you can go back to your Incredible 2. I don't know what you're going to wait for, though. The newest phones announced don't even have ICS on them, so you're going to be waiting a while for something that is so much better than the Galaxy Nexus that it's worth waiting for.

Yeah Im starting to realize that more and more. My two biggest concerns at this point is the camera and data issues. I want this thing to last the full 2 years without feeling like I made a mistake or I want to upgrade a month after I buy the device. Honestly though, if the camera is as good as it was on my Fascinate, then I will be happy enough. That is still the best camera Ive used on a cell phone. and that was a 5 megapixel as well.

Have we fully determined at this point is the data issues are hardware or software related?

I will admit I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I've taken photos with my Galaxy Nexus all over the place in all different light conditions, and I think they look great. As good as my digital camera? No. But certainly more than adequate for a phone.

I guess I would have had to experience these "issues" to know. The only time my 4G service was shaky was during those few brief outages. Since then, my phone has been superb with data (just as good as those around me who own Bionics and other 4G phones) and I've never dropped a call. I think the issue got so overhyped that, like the iPhone antenna deal a while back, everyone just started creating an issue that didn't truly exist. I'm sure some people have weakened signal, but I guarantee they're in the small minority.

I just tried to return my GNex to Best Buy and was told there was no Holiday Return Window by Verizon this year. The sales guy even called his Verizon rep to confirm. I bought the phone on launch day, Dec 15th, and am now told i have no return, only available option is to either get another GNex or choose another phone. Anyone else hear anything like this?

I replied in the other thread you posted in. But on my Verizon receipt it says can be returned until 1/15/12/. I don't know what BB return policy is.

Yup, got mine through a VZW corp store, with the VZW corp statement. Don't know what else to say. Maybe complain to *611 directly and voice your nice complaints?

Proof, just took this pic and I paid "full price":

Hey guys,

Well here I am sitting on a brand new Razr I bought right before Christmas. I was drawn to it for a few reasons. One, the camera kinda sucked me in with the 8 mega pickles and awesome sound quality. Second, the hardware is unmatched. I LOVE the feel of the device. The thinness is incredible and it feels solid as a rock. Third, expandable memory. Although I havnt used much more than about 20 of the 32 gigs (around 14 being music) I like the option to actually upgrade to more memory if I need too. And lastly, it comes in white, and Im a sucker for white phones, even if it is more storm trooper looking than Audi R8.

Now im a bit torn on what I should do. I have become VERY attached to the device, yet I still feel like Im missing out significantly with a few things. For one, the 8 mega pickle camera is average at best. I was expecting and hoping for more, but Im sorely disappointed and that is a BIG deal for me. The audio quality is amazing, but I have recently acquired a USB mic to help combat my audio woes, thus making the phone obsolete in that factor.

Next is hardware buttons. I am stoked for ICS and even more for the button less interface, so the touch buttons on the Razr already seem outdated and annoying.

And lastly the screen. I LOVE the screen on the Razr, especially when I switched from an Incredible 2. The colors pop amazingly and the over all fidelity is superb. But I want bigger and HD. I dont want something quite Galaxy Note sized, but 4.5+ would be ideal. And obviously HD plays a BIG part in that. After comparing the screens on the GN and Razr, Im still blown away by the GN even 3 weeks after I bought the damn phone!!

So my big question here, should I return the Razr and grab a Nexus? Return the Razr, go back to the Inc 2 and wait it out a month or two for something more "ice cream sandwich-y" but with beefier specs than the GN? or simply keep the Razr? Im leaning more toward going back to my Inc 2 and hoping for something a little closer to the SGSII but revolved around ICS. Essentially a Galaxy Nexus with a better camera and slightly improved processor.

Im not overly concerned about the 35 restocking fee, I just want to make sure Im in the absolute best for the next 2 years. I just feel like im sitting on the cusp of ICS and Gingerbread and going with a more Gingerbread centric device (Like the Razr) would be more of a mistake than a blessing. Perhaps Im simply putting too much thought into this :p

PS. I was lazy and just copied this from the Droid Razr forum :D

The Nexus's screen is about the Razr's size (4.3) when you subtract away the space the on- screen buttons take up.

I decided to return my razr avfew days ago and get the nexus. I couldnt be happier. The razris a nice ohone but this just feels like a BIG step up

Yay!! Check here for some cool stuff to show off about your Galaxy Nexus. I am loving the daylights out of mine:

http://androidforums.com/3784997-post23.html

Some of it is stuff to show off for fun to others. Some of it I just enjoy myself. This phone is fantastic overall. I have very few glitches or hangups. It's overall stable, signal and battery wise. So far so good. I think you will like it.

Am I the only one who never even considered taking the Gnex back. I liked it from day one even with its problems. I hope they can fix them. If not I will live with it until the next great thing comes out. I always have an old BB bold and a 2nd Gnex so surely I can get one of them to do the job. Yes I have a lot of phones and i use and depend on them a lot so i try to stay on top of the the latest and greatest. The Gnex right now is the phone for me. Here is how I look a phones.Find the one that fits you and your uses and thats the one you need and want. If you are happy stick with it,if you are not make a move. It is not curing cancer it is just a phone that is now a computer.

Yes and no. I mean, if it's something I think is software, I absolutely would not exchange over it. But my last 2 Nexuses would drop voice+data 15 times a day. Unacceptable, yes. Software fixable? No. This one has screen issues which I also am certain cannot be addressed by software. It seems like with this phone, you almost have to roll the dice and hope you get one whose issues are either a) software (and thus fixable) or b) something you don't care about. I hope the new shipment that comes to my costco at the end of the week has Nexuses with good radios and good screens. I think if I get another one with either of those issues, I'm going to just contact Samsung directly and send it in for warranty work.
