Samsung needs to give us a BIGGER Standard mAh Battery for the Nexus!

This post is ridiculous
Phone manufacturers do not invent new battery technology for their products, that's just not how it works

Samsung is already using the best current technology for their battery. I agree that the battery like on this phone is terrible but they have two options... either make a larger phone with a heavier battery, or make the phone use power more efficiently. I see from reading the later posts that seems to be generally understood, but the question in the original post is just silly

Hey everyone,,,

Here we go with another new jack who thinks the world is flat! Yessssssssss!!!!!

So let me ask u a question Mr know everything... When the Nexus S dropped with a 1500mAh battery, how in the world did Seidio drop a 1750mAh battery in no time which was the same size as the 1500?

Was it magic that they were able to fit 250 more mAh into the same size battery?

Must have been a silly thing right?

No, what is silly is your posting!

You still obviously don't understand the chemistry of how it works. If they make a larger battery that can fit in the same casing it just means that the smaller battery was not designed to maximize the space inside the case. And it will be proportionately heavier based on how much more capacity it has. The other explanation is the "generous" rating that 3rd party manufacturers sometimes give compared to a more conservative number from samsung themselves. You can find these super extended batteries 2000mah+ for other devices on ebay but they never live up to their rating.

I too would prefer a larger battery for this phone even if it did make it bigger. I just think it's misleading to think that they could make a significantly larger capacity battery while keeping the size the same.

Because when tested, it was found out that the Seidio batteries actually tested out at around 1500 mAh. Same with the Incredible "slim extended battery." It said it was a 1750 mAh battery, at the same size as the stock battery. But when it was tested, it was found that it really had about 1500 mAh in it.

Seidio over-estimates their batteries charge capacities, which is why it appears that they fit more juice into the same size battery. Which is part of the reason that people like yourself believe it's possible to get noticeable jumps in capacity without increasing size - because they are misleading you about their battery capacities.

I'm sorry, but this is just a place where you're not fully informed. Without a modification to the underlying battery chemistry, batteries are as small as they can get. That modification will come. There have been a number of papers published about better different battery chemistry, and there are a lot of people working on it. But you're expecting someone to just drop a consumer battery on the market in the near term that'll let you keep the stock battery size with better capacity - and it ain't gonna happen.

I bought the backup battery that comes with the charging dock. It works perfect. I can charge my extra battery and use my phone without regard, then swap the two batteries and I am set. If I am going away for the day, I pop the extra charged battery in my pocket and have two batteries for the day. I like it because it adds no bulk to the phone. I think it was only 29.99 at Verizon.

It actually makes never worry about having the phone connected because I know my backup is ready to go when needed.

This is exactly how I use my SGN

Check the numbers at BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims!

Seidio 3200mAh, tested out at 2691mAh
Seidio 1600mAh, tested out at 1305mAh
Seidio 1750mAh, tested out at 1383mAh
Seidio 3500mAh, tested out at 2821mAh

So the 1750mAh battery - which was the same size as the stock 1500mAh battery - actually tested at around 1400mAh. That's how they got it to be the same size as the stock battery. Because it WAS the same size as stock. They just SAID it was bigger.

If you check OEM batteries, they almost always hit RIGHT at what they should be. So the stock 1850 mAh battery is likely just about exactly 1850 mAh. Leading to the inevitable conclusion: the OEM batteries are extremely efficient, and only a better battery will provide more capacity for the same size.

@ everyone who feels I'm so misguided!

OK first off I'm not...I'm pretty tech savvy and usually try something before I decide to shoot my mouth off!

Common sense wise I know at this moment in time it is 100% impossible to make a 3000mAh battery the size of a 1500! Yes I know, and so does everyone else that at least has a simple understanding on how things work. So please, enough with the scientific engineering base rants on how I'm so misguided and wrong.

Since the beginning of the smart phone trend a few years ago...Yes I've been dug in deep since the Palm one and Early Blackberry days! Batteries were never really that awesome, but were particually Huge at the same time with a fairly low mAh rating. Some batteries were under 1000mAh! Now has technology has advanced, better specs, stronger and faster processors, super bright screens, etc, etc, batteries have begun to come with more and more juice....climbing from let's say around 1000mAh to about 1850mAh. However all in all, the batteries for the most part have stayed pretty much the same size.

Now if I would have came on here when the EVO was released and it came with a teny tiny battery that didn't last the whole day and was let's say 1400mAh, and I think that a 1800mAh battery would have been great! Would some of you say I'm so mis informed and that its impossible to do? Well Well Well, fast forward a few years and NOW phones as thin as the Nexus are coming with batteries that have way more juice, and are pretty much the same size as the batteries of yesteryear? Hmm, interesting huh? How'd they do that? How'd they cram a few extra 100mAh into the casing? I don't know, nor do I care...But they've been doing it! Some have been more stingy then others with the juice, but they're doing it....what's the limit? I don't know? So enough with science guys...

As for Siedio....save your charts! I've used they're Batteries, as have many many members on this very forum. Are they the answer to all this? Some say yes, some say no! I've used they're batteries, as has my dad, my lady, and plenty of friends. Some say they see a significant bump in play time. Some say its maybe slightly better.

I've used it on my Incredible, and my Thunderbolt....did they're batteries make my phone last an extra day? No? But what it did do was say take my phone an extra hour and a half to maybe two hours into the night....it didn't double the battery life. The small bump was to just get me some extra juice. And honestly my dad used a Siedio battery on his Incredible right up until he changed over to the Droid Charge. He said he deff saw much better battery life then with the stock. And there are probably many on here as well who have first handed used they're stuff and found it use full.

The BS about this can't be done, that can't be done is moot at this point. I pretty much have an understanding...so either contribute, and bring positive experience to the table, as in I've used a Siedio, and it was great, or I haven't but would like to try, or I've tried and saw nothing. But stop with schooling and ranting about this and that. I get it, as do many on what is within the realm of possibility, and what is not!

haha man these battery threads are in every new phone forum back to my Eris days people have been arguing and complaining about batteries and battery life. It is what it is . When I had the Seidio 1750 battery for the Incredible it had about the same life as the EVO battery but it was better then the stock 1300mah battery the Inc came with and it fit under the stock back. Most consumers didnt' know an evo battery would fit an Incredible so they bought the extended slim battery from Seidio and it did exactly what it was supposed to "give the phone better battery life without a new back cover" .. I also owned a Seidio 3500mah battery and it more then doubled my life compared to the EVO battery but it was a brick . I'd much rather carry an extra battery now and keep my sleek and sexy phone sleek and sexy instead of turning it in to a ugly, fat brick

These arguments never come to a conclusion , if someone has a good experience with Seidio don't bash them for it.

On another note there are batteries that are almost indentical insize that have longer life ie the (EVO is almost the same size as the Incredible battery but gives 200mah more, The Rezound battery is almost the same size as the Thunderbolt battery and gives 250mah more juice ) so it is out there ... Why did HTC just not put the Rezound battery in the Thunderbolt or the EVO battery in the Incredible ?? so they could sell there shitty extended batteries at insane costs . Did anyone ever test the HTC 2150mah battery?? that thing was a pile of crap , I had two of them neither netted much more then the EVO battery and it was the damn ugliest thing I've ever seen on a phone (until the Thunderbolt extended battery lol)
These companies are out to make money and if they can make extra money without pissing us off to the point we don't buy there gonna do it.

This is a poor example of what you're trying to say because Seidio does in fact lie about their battery capacity. This has been proven so many times I just can't believe that people still aren't aware of it. I have seen people prove it with pretty much every single major Android release since the Nexus One.

Seidio has never in their entire company history built a battery(they don't actually produce batteries, they buy cheapo Chinese batteries and slap a Seidio sticker and MAH they feel like saying it is on it) that was the same physical size as a stock battery that had more capacity. EVERY(Not some, not most, every, single, one) Seidio battery they have ever sold that was the same physical size as a stock phone battery but advertised as being larger mah capacity, was in fact smaller, not even equal, but smaller than the stock battery. The only Seidio batteries that actually have larger capacity than stock batteries are the ones that are physically larger. They lie about those too. When Seidio calls a battery 3200, 3500, or 3800Mah, it usually is around 2500-2700 in reality.
