Since CES came and went, Motorola announced the new DROID 4, ending the DROID 3's life after 6 months after being on sale.
Also, technically the DROID RAZR Maxx is a successor to the original DROID RAZR, technically, but not really ending its life.

But I have to ask, how many of you plan on keeping your D3?
If not, what phone do you plan on jumping for?

Weigh in!

I have upgrade fever...always have.

I plan to upgrade to the droid 4. Its not so much 4G LTE that gets me..but the fact the camera has image stabilazation for videos and pics that sends it off for me.

oh and lets not forget 1gig of ram which makes it lapdock ready.

I gotta has it!

I wonder if it still has the same GPU as the droid 3 (PowerVR SGX540)

if so it will have more running room due to the increased amount of ram, and slightly faster processor

I have always had the upgrade fever too, but I plan on hanging onto my D3. The D4 has image stabilization? Interesting, I didn't know that.

I haven't decided what to do. My son is eligible for an upgrade (OG Droid) and I have the D3. So, do I let him upgrade to the D4 and keep it or give him my D3 and take his upgrade? Not really sure which way to go. At any rate, we will be getting a D4.
I really like the D3, don't care about 4G yet (not enough coverage) but the bumped up specs are appealing.

Do you have any 4G coverage where you live?

Yes and no. My house is literally on the (map) border of 4G coverage. My office does have it but the Bionic folks there are always dropping it (I know that is a Bionic issue). Half of the places I would be would have it, half wouldn't. For now I would actually probably just have it turned off anyway, it would kill the battery with all searching/switching.
My son would actually probably not benefit from it when he leaves home again. He is a wildlife biologist and most of the places he ends up barely have 3G. The middle of nowhere in the woods usually has crappy coverage.

Haha, with what it sounds like, since the D3 and D4 are good phones, I would just give your D3 to your son, and get the D4, but temporarily switch to 3G only until Verizon gives out more coverage.

I would do the same, since where I live is still transitioning to the new 4G coverage zone, but I like my D3, and is probably one of the best phones I've had. Plus I'm not due for an upgrade until June, which most likely won't be used for my line, as of what it looks right now.

Barring my phone breaking or something, I'm sticking with my Droid 3. It does what I need it to.
4G is tempting, but not enough to warrant an upgrade yet.
In truth, if the Droid 5 (or 6) has an NFC chip, 4G, and still a keyboard, then I might bite.
I am glad that the Droid 4 has the buttons (menu, home, back, and search) in the same order as my Droid 3. I was getting tired of them randomly moving around. Hope they keep them in that order.

Well, buttons are supposed to be a thing of the past after Android 4.0.

Funny, I was using my old Eris this morning and the muscle memory is already there - I kept hitting home rather than menu, because on the Eris the home key is first.

They moved to Menu, Home, Back, and Search in that order when the DROID 2 was released, but the DROID X I believe was the first Moto device to have the buttons in that order.
