Please pardon my ignorance on this... I have had my Dinc since day one and recently switched to a Rezound after being drawn in by 4G LTE. A big mistake. Long story short, I returned the thing and am back with my trusty Dinc. However, there is one thing that I miss that the Rezound did well. Screen shots! After searching the net, I have learned that it is pretty much impossible to do with the Dinc unless rooted. Is this correct? If so, what is the easiest, safest way to root the incredible? Do I lose Sense if rooted? Thanks for any info.:)

Check the All Things Root forum above for any questions you have. This is the thread you need: http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/427344-2-3-4-root-downgrade-s-off.html

I followed this guide and rooted my Inc. Worked like a charm. Note: you do not have to do everything in that guide. You do not have to do the whole s-off procedure. If all you want to do is to be able to take screenshots, the whole s-off procedure is not necessary.

Yes, you have to be rooted to take screenshots on the Inc. You will not lose Sense if you root. Minus the Superuser app icon that gets put in your app drawer, there really isn't anything that changes visually after you root. All you are doing when you root is basically giving yourself access to parts of the operation system you do not have when not rooted.

The standard disclaimer: know what you are doing before you even start the rooting process. Read everything and do lots of research. Download all files and software and have it all ready to go before you start. If you mess up your phone, its your fault.... blah, blah, blah. The standard root warning.:D
