notes.png

  • You must perform a complete data wipe / factory reset before installing! This is not optional. The ROM will not function correctly if you do not!
  • Data now turns on by default BUT you must wait for the data arrows to show up before starting set up! They take about 30 to 60 seconds.
  • ROM now boots to Fastboot after install to auto install kernel. Just press power when you get to fastboot and the install will begin. No longer need a PC to install.
  • Data Arrows dont work! Data still works but the arrows do not light up
  • Do Not Update SU Binaries! It appears they are not compatible with this version of ICS. Doing so will cause you to loose ALL root privileges!
  • Minor blue flicker every once in a while. Very minor and infrequent. To stop flicker go to Settings -> Develop Options -> Change scrolling and transition animation to 1.5
  • Weather Animations Do not work Until Turned On! Nuf said!

tether.png

Start Application
Go to Settings
Change Device Profile to Glaxay Nexus CDMA / LTE
Select Routing Fix
Start Tether and Allow Root
Do not try to set encryption or any other options! Your device will fail to work! If you need these features its time to subscribe to VZW Hotspot!

installation.png

Place ROM on SD Card
Reboot to recovery
Wipe all data / Factory reset - Do not restore anything from back up. Do not ask in the thread if you can. You will be referred back to here!
Flash ROM
ROM will boot to fastboot when installation is complete
Press Power to install the kernel / boot.img
Reboot
Profit!

I've done a lot of reading online about flashing ROMs and kernels, and I've taken a lot of notes. But I don't have a good feel that I know all the ins and outs. Is there anywhere online where there's a step by step, and I mean DETAILED step by step, guide for flashing ROMS and kernels, and restoring them back to stock if we don't like them?

I've already unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and installed the Amon Ra recovery. I'm looking for the next steps which I have somewhat outlined in my notes. Thanks in advance for your help.

Honestly if you have compeleted the Recovery phase you have did all the hard stuff. Now you just need to download ROM, place on SD card, reboot into recovery, make back up, then wipe all data, then flash ROM. Back up is optional.

Thanks, Scott. So this is what I think you're saying I do next, but I have questions.

1. copy ROM to SD card (external SD or internal SD? I think external.)
2. reboot into recovery: use Quick Boot, or do "adb reboot recovery"
3. use the recovery to do a backup. Nand backup? And if so, what exactly do I backup? Default selected is boot, system, data, cache.
4. use the recovery's menu option to wipe all data. What exactly do I wipe? ALL = data/factory reset? Or can I get away wiping just data and cache? Obviously I don't want to wipe my external SD card; I don't know about the internal SD card.
5. flash the ROM - this is the part I'm not sure how to do. Is this flashing an option on the recovery menu, or an adb command? In the Amon Ra recovery, there's an option to "flash from zip file." Is that the option I want? Since CleanROM comes with a zip file, I would guess yes.

Do I need to do anything with the boot.img that comes with CleanROM?

And lastly, if I find I want to return to the stock ROM, how do I go about doing that? What ROM zip file do I flash? Or do I restore the Nand backup I made using the recovery?

1. Either will work. Your choice... But just do external...
2. Either, whatever works for you.
3. Yes Nand, do boot, system and data. This step is optional but nice to know you can go back if you have issues. You would have to flash boot.img because recoveyr will not restore so I guess backing that up is waste of space. Just do Data and System.
4. Yes All Data / Factory Reset
5. Yes... Then when the ROM is done it will put you in fastboot. From there you have to press the power button to flash the boot.img file. Once that is done it will ask to reboot. When complete enjoy ICS goodness!

Wondering if anyone else is having bluetooth issues? My truck has a BT stereo that establishes 2 connections, one for phone and one for stereo audio. I had to take a long drive today so I turned on Pandora and everything was fine. I stopped to get gas and when I got back in and started the truck and hit play on Pandora, it played through the phone speakers. I got a call, and it came through my truck system. So I power cycled my reZound and it worked again until I turned off the app and went back to it. I repeated this several times with the same results. Any suggestions? Any further troubleshooting I can do to help find the root issue?

One thing I confused about before flashing this... If I do a amon ra back up, what do I need to do to flash back to my previous rom? I need to flash the old boot.img?

This is confusing me as well. I'm currently running gingersense but want to try your ics Rom. I cant just nandroid back to gingersense from an ics rom? Not sure how to flash current boot image. Thanks for the help and your hard work!

I need your cleanflash tool for this or can I do it without a pc? Not sure exactly how to reflash a boot.img

You will need a tool or a modified PH98IMG.zip

Just flash the gingersense boot.img using CleanFLASH. Easiest way, one single click.
