How many GNs have you gone through?

Mine is soley with the LTE radio. My CDMA is rock solid.

At first I thought the same thing but I am 100% sure it is my phone now I will be sitting across the table from a friend with a GNex, both with 3-4 bars of 4G and my phone will drop all connectivity. Drops 4G and loses voice as well so all radios are out for a short time. At the same time this is happening to me my friend across the table will never lose his 3-4 bars of 4G. It's happened to me atleast 9 times today...

That sucks for you. So when it loses signal reception, it never comes back on until it's rebooted? Have you checked on mobile data setting when it lost all connection?

purchased at 1AM 12/15/11
in my hands 12/16/11

Has been perfect since

no signal issues

So online order?

I'm really starting to think that some of the issues are regional, and not hardware (not that software can help!).

We had some issues with Charges here locally, but the RAZR and a few other phones are fine... wait, got that red headed stepchild that has a thunderbolt and he does have issues with the 4G re-authentication, I am biting my tongue. :D:D

Sometimes it requires reboot, but most of the time it will come back in a few minutes. Although the several times it has required reboot, it is out for all of 5 minutes and the phone starts overheating trying to find a signal again. I'm glad you mentioned that, I need to check mobile data settings the next time I see it go out and make sure it doesn't uncheck itself. I don't see why mobile data being unchecked would make me lose voice though.

Yup online order

I had purchased a Samsung Stratosphere via online order too in October 2011

That phone had similar issues with connection to 4G/3G and would often necessitate a reboot or switching in and out of airplane mode in order to regain connection

Needless to say I ditched that device after a week so I do understand the frustrations of Galaxy Nexus owners who have (I presume) a similar problem?

My phone would lose all connectivity randomly as well. No voice or data. Toggling didn't help. I let it go on for two hours and took screenshots for proof. First they changed my sim card and had to factory reset twice. Once over the phone with support and once on store. I raised a fit because support told me to go get a replacement in store and two stores refused.

I had to get a tech supervisor to call and the store pushed back saying it was a "known issue".

After a whole day the store finally replaced my phone and I haven't had that issue again.

This is in Orlando.

Realized there's a nice sticker on my sync cable that says "For Warranty Replacement of your phone call 1-866-406-5154"...maybe I can avoid Radioshack and go straight through Verizon?? Not likely and I'll have to hassle RS more, but it would be a nice thought...

I'm not certain, but I think you'd be going through Samsung. You'd also (most likely) be sending it to them, waiting while they fix it and/or diagnose it and replace it before you'd get it back. They may also just use it for 3 hours and not see the drop and conclude there is no problem and send it back.

I'm not saying those things WILL happen, but it's certainly something to consider. If I were you, I'd drive to RS with my receipt, phone (all contents) and their return/exchange policy in hand and demand a replacement.

Yea I'm going to try going to a different RS tomorrow (I've had issues before with the one I went to today) and try to get a replacement. I mean from what I can tell from the Warranty policy listed online for RS, it seems like I would have to do the same thing going through them as Samsung, sending it back to them and them seeing if it has a problem and them sending it back. I figure I'll at least try calling Customer Care and see what they have to say first. If the "associate" I talked with tonight hadn't been a complete idiot, it would have been a perfect situation. She asked me what kind of phone it was (I had the OB on) and reached out to look at it. At that very second the LED started blinking White - the setting for when I have no signal.

I am going on my 4th Nexus:

1st one - Kept rebooting anytime I made a phone call - basically could not use it as a phone

2nd one - Had horrible purple tint all over the screen and banding.

3rd one - This one has the purple tint, thought much better then the second one only noticeable when brightness is very low, but has another problem with screen, whenever looking at anything with a very light/white screen like browser/email, if you move the phone just the slightest the colors change and have this blue/reddish hue. I never had that before and even compared to the store model and it did not do that. It is so annoying because it gives me a headache and can not use it for loing periods of time.

The verizon store said I can no longer exchange, I called up corporate and they are sending me a brand new one should arrive Monday.

I am hoping this is my last one, if I still have issues I might just tell Verizon to forget it, and just go back to my old phone. I love the Nexus - stock ICS, display screen when it works, and everything else, but if I cannot get a working phone then what is the point.

Other thing I am thinking is if this phone has any screen problems like I am seeing I might just send it back to Samsung instead of going to verizon, and use my old phone for that week. I spoke with Samsung and they said all of these screen issues I had are defects and should be replaced. They did say they have not heard too much of the issues with banding and purple tint, and phone should look as good at low brightness as it does at full.

You know what? Verizon/Samsung need to buck up and be willing to exchange the phone for this issue. It is a real issue. My wife's Fascinate died while I was at basic training and South Carolina last year. Her new Fascinate works fine, but I actually started using a little bit for the first time the other day. If you turn the phone just a little, it has this crazy blueish hue, just like you say. It's super noticeable. My Fascinate does not do this, and neither does my Galaxy Nexus, but I know I would be very frustrated if they did. I notice that blue hue even if the screens not solid white. It's super obvious. My wife's Fascinate is out of warranty, but I'll switch her to my device if she wants to.

Verizon certainly needs to take care of you though. Just know that this doesn't happen to all AMOLED based screens, you've just been unlucky several times in a row. :(

Ok the Costco 90 day exchange thing rocks, but my store said they are back ordered with no ETA on a new shipment. :( Maybe this is why you have 90 days...because they only get them in every few weeks or something.

I could go to another Costco, but the guy I originally bought from deserves the commission and seems much more understanding about the screen issues.

I mean, the other Costco I went to, the guy told me my radio was fine and it was "normal" to lose voice+data 15 times a day. Needless to say, I am not going back to that one. I guess I'll give it another week and see if they at least have a shipment date/ETA. If not, I'll have to try my luck at another Costco, but if they were reluctant to let me exchange due to an obvious radio hardware problem, what are the chances they will let me return this one due to the purple tint and banding? :(

Called the Radioshack "Customer Care" last night and the nice automated lady told me to call back between 8-5 Central time to talk with a CSR. Called back today and the same option told me to visit a store for support...after 15-20 minutes i finally got on with an Indian lady (surprise) who eventually told me that since I had ordered my phone online I would need to call another number. Called that and they said they had no record of my transaction and that I would need to visit a store for help. So im going to a different store tonight and raising hell until they give me a replacement. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah I am hoping the 4th one is a charm, but I don't have any hope, and really trying to decide what to do if this one still has some defects. There are no other phones I am interested in except Nexus at the moment. I know in a few months there will be some nice quad core, but still won't be stock ICS. So I am sort of in a bind, or maybe just go back to my older fascinate that works great and be on GB for a bit.

My RAZR and G Nex I had both have/had the blue tint. The G Nex didnt have the blotches that can be seen in a dark room tho, my RAZR did. (this is different than the blue blockiness thread)

I just figured the blue tint was normal. I knew the blotches could be better or worse from phone to phone. On my RAZR, it wasnt as bad as some pics I've seen of other ppl's RAZR's. As with any phone...you can exchange it for the tint, but run into bigger or other problems with a different phone.

Good luck.

I would not mind if the blue tint was uniform, meaning you see it even if you look at it straight on. I am pretty sure my fascinate had it, but you got use to it because no matter how you looked at it, was uniform.

With mine if you look at it directly has no tint, if anything when you look at it head on it has a yellow tint, but as soon as phone even moves any direction it changes, and it the constant going back and forth that gives me a headache, I have very sensitive eyes, and get migraines, and this just too for me.

I forgot, I meant to say both my phones have the blue tint when tilting the phone. Looking straight on they are both fine. Now...I dont/didnt have a yellow tint on either phone.

Forgot another thing... since last year I have been running my phones at 100% brightness. Had a Droid X1. Maybe that makes a difference for some of these Amoled screens?

Not sure but the other 2 models I had did not do it.

I am on my second as of next week. My first one, the 3g just died altogether. All I had was 4G and voice.

Well, today is my 6th:

1st - banding, purple hue
2nd - banding, purple hue
(hiatus when I thought I'd be ok with a rezound lol)
3rd - cracked case (damaged in shipment I guess) and would drop voice/3G/4G 10-15 times a day
4th - same as 3rd but the case was fine
5th - radio worked well (no drop outs like 3rd and 4th) but had a wide vertical band and the purple/yellow tint/hue
6th - radio seems ok so far, though it's dropping to 3G in a couple places I remember it always holding 4G. Screen is leaps and bounds better (just like 4th and 5th) and is the same manufacture date of 12/23 as #5, so hopefully I don't start having the radio issues again...

I don't make many phone calls, but I never noticed the "other person can't hear me" bug with the previous phones. This one has done it a couple of times now...hopefully that is a software thing. Luckily, I don't use it for voice too often anyway.

I really, really hope this one is permanently mine...it's a weird feeling using a phone when you know you're going to be exchanging it. So hopefully this one is a keeper. Sigh.

Gosh, I feel really bad for some of you that have such bad luck with these phones, but I definitely sympathize. I went through 4 Erises before I finally got a good one. I've had a lot better luck with my Gnex though. I see a minimal amount of banding on the solid gray, but it's very minimal - I've seen much worse. My signal is excellent, and I never have voice call issues. And I'm pretty sure the 3G signal dropping issues were network related, because I confirmed that others with different phones were having similar issues around the same relative time. I know Verizon's network is the nation's strongest, but I still think it could be susceptible to some growing pains. I wonder how many network issues get blamed on the phones.

Well, I honestly don't know. This phone (my 6th) has not dropped with the same log messages as the other two (so far), but I'm going to continue to monitor it for a few days. The screen on this one is very good, on par with the other two I had manufactured 12/23. I am hoping the radio drop off thing was either a freak coincidence with the other 2 I had made 12/23 or this one is just not susceptible to the problems plaguing the others. *knock on wood* but so far so good with this one. :)

Im on #2. First one would not download properly. On 3 bars 4g I was getting 0.2mb down 7mb up. Changed out sim cards and still had a problem. It took approx. 2 hours for the rep to realize I had a problem. Which I was extremely mad about. He kept saying that was normal and the speeds would vary. I ended up saying fine Im returning the phone, cancelling my service and jumping ship because this is unacceptable.

2nd one no real issues to justify returning it. Overall quite please with the device. Oh and Im now getting on average 12mb down 7mb up. Which is what I was expecting.
