[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

I tend to stick to the same ROM once I find something I really like. In this case, it is AOKP. Unless the developer (Roman) says to do a complete wipe, I just do a "dirty flash" which consists of wiping cache partition, formatting system, and wiping dalvik cache. In other words when flashing a newer version of the same ROM you don't have to do a complete wipe, unless told otherwise by the rom maker. Therefore, you lose no apps, data, and settings. You ONLY lose any mods you've flashed and any custom kernels you've flashed. So no TiBu needed in this case.

When Roman says to do a complete wipe between versions, or I move to a new ROM like MIUI for instance, I first make a nandroid.
You didn't mention it, but I assume you also do a nandroid backup before you do a "dirty flash?"

(just wanted an excuse to say "dirty flash" again for our favorite trouble seeking Baby Blues)

Chiming in here...I also make sure to add the "create update zip" for TiBu because some Roms don't include TiBu. This allows you to skip going to the Market to get Tibu. You only do it once and place the zip where you can easily access it. For example, I have a file folder called flashables for all my ROMs/Kernels/Mods etc.

My process: I start with SMS backup...saves all my texts for restore later. Then I go to recovery and do the nandroid backup (I only backup apps by TiBU batch once a week or so-you can add em one at a time if you had an interim dl of a new app) is:
1) wipe all as described above (dirty flash at your own risk...cause sometimes that will require you to redo everything...and kills the time saved, other times it works perfectly)
2) flash ROM
3) reboot
4) i skip the google sign in for now
5) let it settle for a couple of minutes then reboot to recovery and flash the Tibu 'update zip' which loads up my TiBu app
6) reboot
7) now through TiBu, I actually do batch restore USER apps/data, but never system apps/data obviously...that's very bad!
8) now restore accounts (add contacts, email, calendar etc) I use Touchdown email. Had too many problems with the android version and wanted something that would emulate Outlook (email, calendar, contacts all in one).

You are good to go. Rarely have problems and I play alot. The longest part of the process is playing with the new ROMs...:D

I'm just a tad confused. Is the Milestone/M2 for the Milestone 'phone' or is that the name of the ROM? Or is the Nightly the one I want to download? Or are they both compatible with the GNex and developed by two different developers under the same ROM?

M2 or Milestone 2 is for our phone. SO is build/nightly 19. The developers goal is to pump out nightly's that us crack-flashers can play with (the latest greatest) and he also puts out Milestone builds for those that want something that is supposedly a little more stable. Either one will work for you....19 has some more features and I've found it to be just as stable as m2. Your choice!

Im back on Redemption ROM. 1.0.5 dropped last night. This ROM is SICK! So fast and smooth!! :D:cool:

Lou is a fantastic dev glad you like it! I ran his RR on my Inc for over 6 months straight =)

Ok so anyone getting a sync error with Twitter contacts? It syncs fine with status (I always keep that sync off by I tried it while trouble shooting), but the contacts sync just displays the "Sync is currently unavailable please try later" message. I have removed and added Twitter to the sync multiple times and even uninstalled and re installed, not sure if it is a ROM problem or not.

I did see a couple of people mention it in the reviews for the app...

I'm new to flashing Rome's and I'm looking for a little help. I tried to flash 2 diff rooms over the weekend and failed both times. I'm sure its because I don't know wtf I'm doin. Does anybody know where I can find some "instructions" . The last was AOKP and the from mgr log said failed to find SD card. Since there is no physical SD card I'm guessing that's my problem? Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance...

One more question!

MODS only work with the Nightly builds, correct? I can't use any of those on Milestone 2 can I?

All those mods in the OP at one time did work for M2. They update them often though to keep pace with the crackflashers :D

Click the link to the mod your interested in and see if there is a dnld for M2 for that particular mod. I just updated the OP tonight and I only remember seeing 1 mod available for M2. Of course these are only the mods that I've found, there are others out there.

I don't tweet, but a lot here do, hope they can help answer it!

While some may not be impressed by the following I was happy with it as it gave me more screen time than I have gotten in the past.

Hi huckle.

1st off, you are unlocked and rooted correct? Is clockworkmod recovery installed and were you able to make a nandroid/backup?

Can you detail the process you used when trying to flash a new ROM?

Nice BB's anything at 3+hrs screen on time is great with this phone imo! And I know you use the heck out of it just look at tapatalk app.

Love the undersized softkeys is that the latest insidious exodus theme by Nitroz? Or just an earlier version

Its his GSM build for AOKP B19. Not thrilled with the little house but I do love the fact that everything in the GSM build is playing nice.
And yeah, i do use my phone quite a bit. Between tapatalk and g+ messenger I was thrilled to get the time out of it I did.
