I got one of these things to help with signal with my droid and it does great for 1x only but it dont do anything for 3g and yes its a dual band unit my env touch gets 3-4 bars on both 3g and 1x ive tested this on my droid by puting the phone on 3g only mode and go see what the signal is and its 120 dBm i unhooked the zboost still at 120 so what gives why wont the droid pick up the signal and the env touch can :(

Im still playing around and testing this out and its confusing the hell outta me now i got the phone in 3G only mode for these tests with the zboost pluged in its showing 0-1 bar so i unplug the zboost it and the signal shot up to 3 bars! wtf? why is it geting better signal with out this thing but it does great with 1x so idk but while doing these test i was checking the dbm while pluged in and unpluged it stayed at -120 dBm even with 3 bars i dont understand this either can anyone put their phone in 3G mode only and see if theirs stays at -120 dBm

Hello, I live in Oregon way out in the sticks about 9 miles away from town and I get 4 bars with my zboost. I had to get the antena upgrade and I put it on a pole next to the house but it works and I'm very happy with it. I can't even get cable or broad band out here so I use a celler connection for internet. ;)

My Droid goes in and out of 1x/ and 3g but most if the time it works well, it could be your phone? how does it work in town without the zboost?

Without the zboost I have less then one bar of signal, with the stock antenna I did get better signal about 2-3 bars, I got the best antenna with the flat pannel and the little vhf looking antenna too and they helped a lot because you can point them at your closed tower, also the pole I have the upgraded antenna on is PVC not metal zboost told me that metal would interfear with the signal

Also I'm sure you know that best place to test your phone is about 5 feet away from the zboost, and I know this stuffs not cheap but you might want to get the better indoor antenna to, I don't have it but it will give you better distance in your house.

And I don't know how long you have had the booster but I only get about 8 to 12 months out of one befour I need to replace it, for this reason I turn it off when not in use to increase the life of the booster and it's been working over a year now.

My Droid likes to switch down to 1x I just close what is using the net or restart the phone to get my 3g back and put the phone next to the booster when I want to download my podcasts, it's not perfect but it works most of the time and it lets me live out here and with some internet.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the help i really appreciate it seems like we're the only 2 here that uses these things lol i just ordered the upgraded antenna's from amazon and have my fingers crossed that it helps my 3G the antenna that came with the zboost at times i can get a full 4 bars of 1x signal with it i have this app called cellfinder on my droid it shows you on google maps where the tower your connected to and how far stuff like that and im 2.75 miles from the tower im connecting to im glad you told me about the pvc pole because i would have gotten regular tv antenna mast how many feet of pvc pole did you use i did read that the higher the better i only had the zboost now for 2-3 months it sucks they only last that long that would be expensive to replace them every 8-12 didnt the warranty cover it

I have a 3/4 pvc inside a 1 1/8 Pvc I think to give it a little more rigidness. I have it about 5 feet off my metal room and yes the higher the better, I didn't need to add anymore cable.

Ya the warranty will fix it under a year but you will be without it for over two weeks. so I just make a run to Portland and pick up a new one, my last one made it over 12 mons. so I didn't have a warranty left. at least they are coming down in price a little, my first one cost me 550 bucks OUCH. now they are about 250 around here.
