Just picked up my MAXX

Looking for a quick review when you have a chance.

I might not be able to wait and pick one up after work. I assume I have a 14 day return privilege on an off contract phone as well.

I just picked up my MAXX. It's currenlty charging. I did however find it ironic that the battery on the display model at the VZW store was almost dead! Way to market that awesome battery life!

I'm not very good at reviews. What I like someone else may hate. However, based on my limited playing time at the VZW store:
1) The phone has quick response.
2) I really like the keyboard, i have large fingers and i didn't seem to make many typos.
3) Nice display, although not as nice as the Galaxy Nexus, but good enough.
4) Great feel in hand, very streamlined, nice construction.
5) Too early to comment on Battery Life.
6) Lots of Bloatware. But that's expected.

If you have played with the Razr, you have played with the MAXX. It's just a little thicker.

Actually owned a Razr for a week so I am familiar with it. Most interested in battery life.

Thanks for the quick review!

For size reference I placed it on a piece of regular 8.5x11 copy paper. Sorry the images suck, but I'm in my office and all I have is my old incredible.

Hehe... yea, I just upgraded from my Incredible to the MAXX this morning as well.

As far as size, in my opinion, it's just right. I have looked at the RAZR and honestly don't like the thinness of it due to the hunchback effect of the camera. This reduces the humpback effect to almost none (and it slopes up to it instead of being a block).

It was holding the MAXX in my hand that sold it to me.

I don't have enough time on it yet to give much else of a review at this time.

Picked mine up this morning. First one in town to get one. Mine came almost fully charged. I think it said 92% when we activated it in the store. I have been hammering it hard for 4 hours trying everything on it and setting it up. I still have 70% battery left. I came over from a Droid Incredible. Call quality is much better. The 4G screams. Although it is barely thicker than the Razr, I have to say it feels better in my hand. Somehow that little bit makes a difference to me. I have smaller hands. I looked at the Razr a month ago or so and decided to pass as it felt weird. Maybe it is a placebo effect but this one feels fine. Will post more when I get to see how this thing really holds up.

I am also on the original Incredible. I would love to hear your thoughts on how it compares.. My incredible is dying on me, and looking for a new one.

Yeah mine was to, I did love the DINC though. One thing I have noticed is the UI is a bit different from other Motorola phones. my son has the X and the wife has the Droid 2 Global. I do not like the UI on them, this seems closer to vanilla android though you can still see some of the Blur in it. The only thing I don't like I have found is the email app. I liked the HTC email app. When I synced my accounts I could keep/see all the mail in my inbox. This phone will only sync the last 30 days. I refer to older emails quite often. Guess I will get used to it or log onto webmail in the browser. So far my only confusion has been the different button layout. I am sure in a week or so I will be used to it though. Other than that, it's a new toy so will have to put it though the paces for a week or so to see how it stacks up.

So far I have to say, this thing blows the Incredible away. The speaker on this is so clear and loud. The sound is very dynamic. The size is not hard to adjust to. It's actually a nice device with alot of cool business features. I like that there is data encription built in. I find that I can't put this thing down.

** The above is only my opinion! **

Are you talking about ear piece speaker or the external speaker? Have you tried listening to something like a podcast while driving? Is it loud enough to hear over the road noise? (I don't have usb or bluetooth in my car). I also have the incredible and the external speaker is just good enough.

I was talking about the external speaker. I think it will be plenty loud to listen to in your car, even over road noise.

My contract is up on the the 6th of February and I am 100% sure i'm getting this phone. I could never understand why phone carriers didnt make phones with larger batteries already in them. I went into the verizon store today and played with both the RAZR and the MAXX. The MAXX seems more streamline then the original because it doesn't curve out as bad at the top of the phone where the camera is. its no thicker than any other later modeled smart phone... also I am grand fathered into unlimited data! woot bring on the 4G!!

I got this earlier today and I'm thinking I might return it...

Motoblur just sucks. What really puzzles me is how they set up the lock screens for pattern lock. If you set up a pattern lock, you get present with TWO lockscreens to work your way through to unlock it, 1 the regular lockscreen, and then the pattern lock. Seriously, what were they thinking?

And then the screen. It's HUGE. I can't even reach the notification bar on the top to pull down the notification panel while holding the phone normally in my right hand. I have to adjust to an awkward holding position to reach it.

Also, for some reason, the camera won't launch again after I took my first picture. It force closed and it has not opened since. I deleted the picture but that did not help.

The phone looks great on the outside, Motorola has always made awesome looking phones. And the battery life is amazing, started playing with it at 50% for about 5 hours and its now at 20%. Now if my Fascinate, with it's smaller screen and single core, had that battery. With it's 1500 mAh it already lasts all day, I'd get home with it sitting around at 30-50% depending on how much I used it throughout the day.

I just want a 4G LTE phone with a dual core (or quad core, when that comes out) but it doesn't seem like I can find one I like on Verizon. I do like the Galaxy SII, but it's not on Verizon :(
