Nav n Go iGo 8 on my Eris...video inside.

You are all forgetting that Waze is a user generated app. YOU using it helps put in the streets and such that are missing. YOU (the one who actually lives in the area and knows the streets) are the one who is supposed to help correct the mistakes. This has the potential to make it the most up to date navigation type of app available on the Android. The others use older maps, probably a year or more old that wouldn't show new roads. With Waze, you can instantly enter the new road info and it will show up for everyone instead of waiting a year for other programs to go around and update theirs.

The reason it "blows" in your area is because there aren't many Android users in your area using it. As more people use it, it will far exceed any other navigation program. However, as is kind of the standard mentality in the U.S., most people are lazy and don't want to contribute. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter while others do all the work.

Yeah....what he said. :p

I have actually added quite a bit of info to waze and it has saved me a ton of time with regards to traffic on my regular commute. The fact that the users are adding in the traffic info makes it more accurate and faster than any other traffic source out there.

Whoa! Way to go insulting a lot of people at once...

Honestly, if it's not usable when I get it, and there's no clear indication of how to contribute to making it usable, I say can the whole thing. Just my take. Don't go judging me or any general populations before you think about the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

So in my opinion, your remarks were reasonably offensive, and really misdirected.

Isn't that kind of backasswords? If you knew where you were going, and could updated the maps with correct information, why would you need a GPS? And if you were nice enough to try and update the map information in your local area so that terrorists, I mean tourists could find their way around, I know I would leave out my street!!!:D

If that is the way you want to look at it. Sure, why not.

The point is that you help it and I help it. If you come to my town, then all the inforamtion you see is going to be current and up to date. This includes little nothing roads that some maps ignore.

There is an intersection near my house that they changed from a 45% angle to a 90% angle a little over 3 years ago. The only map I have ever seen this corrected in is the one that Waze uses. The reason it is corrected? I corrected it. Now, if 100 people did that in just about every city, it would be an amazingly accurate map.

Insulting? Or simply stating the truth? Sorry, but the "silver platter" mentality is on a rampage in this country. First, the app is FREE, and when you register on your phone and it pulls up the information where you live, it even tells you how much information is currently available in your area. They clearly state that they are in the beginning stages of development and putting things together on their website.

As for no clear indication on how to make it usable...it doesn't get more simple and clear than this. That guided tour is so easy to follow and understand how it all works.

I can't help people who choose to just try something without reading the instructions first and get frustrated that it doesn't work, when in fact it works great if you know how to use it. :) If that's considered "judging", than I will keep on doing it. Some things in life take effort, and almost 99% of the time the things that actually take effort in life (in every aspect of life) are the best and most rewarding. Anyway, if you're offended by my comment, then you are choosing to be offended. I find most people get offended because they are guilty...

Yes, Waze is available in the market and it is free. It is kind of in its infant stages right now. It doesn't offer a lot of the bells a whistles that some of the other GPS apps have. However, if you need directions and/traffic information then it is great.

Free GPS Navigation with Turn by Turn - Waze

Is this what your're using? Do you think its better than Google NAV? I watched the guided tour and it seems pretty interesting, but I do live in a rather small town area and wonder if it will be accurate at all for me...

It might not be at first, but it will only get better if you and other Android users in your area use it and update things. Just have it running while you drive around and it will learn the roads in your area. Then, when you have some extra time, you can update the maps in your area with street names.

I use it right now, but my needs are more for traffic info than any real navigation. When I do use the navigation it is more a need to see how much longer it will take me to get some place. The problem that I ran into with apps like Copilot is that I live in a city that is constantly growing and waiting a whole year for new maps doesn't do me any good. I need an app that downloads new maps when I need them. Waze is actually pretty great for that and it keeps the maps very fresh.

Google Nav has much better navigation from what I have seen and played with. Until we have it though, I would suggest giving waze a try to anyone.

You'd actually be surprised how much traffic I run into at night. When I am headed out right now, everyone else is headed home. If I want to find dinner then I need to get through traffic for the best hunti...er dinning spots. :D

Dinning spots.....I didn't realize there were designated places to make loud noises. :p

Pretty cool.....I've really been liking the CoPilot Live, working well with eris.
I bought Co-Pilot live and used it for awhile, but found it to be slow and one update caused too many force-closings. They had responsive customer support, but I ended up uninstalling it since it didn't work reliablly and was hoping for Google Nav to be up on the Eris by now. I might go back to trying CoPilot since I plunked the $25 for it...the most for any app on my phone. It's also a big memory user, even though the maps are saved to SD. Anyone else using and liking Co-Pilot live?
