Screen protector or no?

On XDA there was quite a bit of discussion over whether or not a screen protector was "needed" as this device doesn't use Gorilla glass..

I am really debating the merits of a screen protector myself.. I mean It is't going in my pocket with my keys like a phone might on accident..

but, I really don't want to start having scratches pop up and not know where they came from..

The problem I have is it is hard enough to apply a screen protector right on a 4" phone.. a 7" tab seems like a nightmare.. if bestbuy sold the zagg front screen protector I'd jump on that option to have them put it on.. But, it isn't an option and I'm not quite sure what to do..

I didn't bother with a screen protector on my Desire and to this day it is scratch free, so I never bothered on my flyer.

I've had the flyer since August and has only been carefully used around the house. It doesn't get thrown around. I now have 3 or 4 very small, light scratches on the screen. As small as they are I notice them every time I pick it up, however, I can't see them once the screen is on but it's still annoying.

I really don't like screen protectors, no matter how good the best ones are but if I was going to be carrying it around in a pocket with no case I would definitely use a screen protector.

I've owned my flyer for seven days now, and earlier while using the stylus on a drawing program, it's given a inch long scratch on the display, not happy, I'm waiting for htc customer support to phone me tomorrow, hopefully...

I would say, if i knew the stylus would scratch the display, I would of used a screen protector.

My stylus scratched my flyer as well! Let me know how your call with customer support goes. I'm curious if there's anything they would do.. doubt it though. I do find it horrible however that the stylus they recommend you buy with the device scratches it!

Yeah, they were ever so nice on the phonecall but sadly there wasn't much they could do... Other than to send it into them to replace the whole screen for around 60 quid.
For one scratch it wasn't worth it, but if I get many more I may save up for it.

Just wish they used Gorilla glass on a product they marketed to use a stylus for.
Still the best tablet around for the size and updates In my opinion

I second what everyone above has said. I baby my flyer, keep it in a folio-style case, and mostly use it to consume content (rarely using the stylus). Yet I still have several scratches on the screen. Most are barely visible; but I can *feel*, which I find very annoying. jI expect to start using the stylus much more in a week or so, so I just ordered some screen protectors, but wish I'd had one on from the start.

Same here I keep mine in a folio case as well and don't even use the stylus anymore after I saw those few little scratches. Big waste of $80.

I've been using a screen protector for quite a while now since I noticed small marks from the scribe. Another benefit is that with the screen protector, fingerprints are not as bad. I got the GreatShield ones off of Amazon but they now show them not available.
