[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

I like the Circles battery indicator mod. I'm new to rooting and I must be doing something wrong. I read flash the mod so I'm going to Clockwork Recovery and flashing the mod just like I would a new ROM. But each time I flash it and reboot I get a message that the UI has stopped working.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks
Z

You made sure of compatibility with the version of the rom you are using, right?

Vivid should be the name if he takes it from his older model. I do like vividis though rolls off the tongue nicely! I think Patriot made a typo :D

Are ya diggin' the 920MHz? Everything smooth and dandy?

So far so good. It was late when I flashed and changed and I didn't use the phone too much. I'm sure today I will be better able to judge

Hey guys, I'm at a hotel with questionable reception, and without my computer for the night...two things I'm running into. In the hotel room, my phone seems to be getting really hot, but I'm assuming it's because it's searching for a signal...but that's probably fine long term right? I'm keeping it near the front window where it's a little better and leaving tomorrow. The other thing is, I can't figure out why, but a couple of different times today I've seen my phone trying to re download build 21, and I stop it/delete it, but then it does it again. Anyone else? Or is it possible these are an update of some kind? Why would they download automatically? Sorry for the ramble...

This is really weird! En serio?

So it's trying to dnld AOKP ROM 21? So is this happening through the browser? What site if so? Are you sure it's not a market app update of some kind?

The phone will get warm in a -120db situation where it is fighting to get a signal. Also, when it does get warm, check your manage apps screen and see what it running. It could be a rogue app as well.

Welcome to AF Z! :D

Could you please post a link to the mod you've dnld'd and are trying to flash? And what version of AOKP are you on?

Want a new battery? Zaphod's mods updated to #21 in OP.

If there is a particular battery you would like and it is not listed in his battery mods please have a look at the UOT kitchen. Click on "kitchen" (at the top) then click on "battery" (near the top left), then check the box "use this mod". Choose your design and parameters for colors etc...and "generate preview" so you can see what it looks like.

If you tell me which battery with which parameters you want I can make it into a flashable zip for your phone. Of course the credit would go to Zaphod for doing all the heavy lifting xml edits. I'd just insert the battery images.

Yes I did! Haha meant to put an apostrophe :D though vividis is nice... if I could make a theme maybe I'd name it that! :D

No I have worked with cm coding and this one has a Whole lot more ... I am gonna be excited to see what cm does when they get out of beta stage to stable

CM7 has much more customization than anything in AOKP. Not knockin' it just sayin. I'm not a coder though :p

I'm a CM fan, I look forward to 9 as well!

Awesome prelim review thank you! I don't know if I'll get to it tonight, but certainly by tomorrow I'll be 21 :).

Ahh ok. Yeah my battery life is great I can't complain. I posted some screen shots in the franco kernel thread. Both on wifi and on LTE only. That is what I get

I installed SetCPU paid last nite and put a bunch of limitations for CPU speeds for sleep, charging.... etc. Enabled lte and gonna see how batt does now. What does a custom kernel do? I'm a noob..

The big benefit to me is the excellent battery life. Some of this is achieved by undervolting, but most just comes with the way the kernel is made. Oh, and lag is gone. ROMs add some nice UI features, and kernels make it fast, efficient, and stable. At least that's my take.

Where do you get the kernels? How do you know if they are safe for ur phone? Gnex in our case. What's the process for flashing a kernel. Do you back up the old kernel? 20 questions... where we're you on the nite of Oct 18, 1896 :)

They are tweaked and modified by the developer to add new features and open up various tweaks to the end user that can and will improve battery efficiency not available with a stock kernel. Custom kernels typically have lower memory usage/RAM by omitting unused features, device drivers, debugging. etc... Additional hardware support is often included in a custom kernel as well. I'm sure there is much much more, there are many here who could answer better, but that's my novice conclusion.

Kernels are on xda and rootzwiki. They will be listed under the Galaxy Nexus development sections so you know they're built for our phones. You flash just like a rom. Make sure you nandroid before flashing though. Safety precaution.
1896 .....hmmm.

Most of us seem to be using either a Lean Kernel or Franco kernel. You can get great advice here as to which might work better for your usage habits.

I wasn't born yet :p

If you are on a 4.0.3 ROM you would need to use a 4.0.3 based kernel. Likewise for 4.0.2

To flash you would put it on your sdcard then reboot into recovery then wipe dalvik cache then flash. That is it. You can make a backup/nandroid and in that process it will take a snapshot of your entire ROM, settings, and kernel. If you restore that backup/nandroid then you'll be right back where you were when you made the backup/nandroid image.

You can find the links to the kernels right here at AF in this very forum!

she got me again!! go BB's :p

I'm not sure if this is a ROM issue or a hardware issue as I just realized what was happening today after noticing it a week ago. I have been running AOKP Milestone 2 during that time. When I check my VZW voicemail while using speakerphone, the password is not recognized. If I use the earpiece instead of the speaker, the password works fine. Can anyone else test this to see if this is something unusual happening to just me or a bug with AOKP?
