HTC Rezound OTA is here

Isn't the first test on Wifi?

No, it's LTE. Notice it says LTE under network. I got around to taking the screen shot when I was home and on wifi. Also no it's not the same pic I posted previously. I've been getting 40+ on a semi regular basis lately(pre update). My norm is very high 20's low 30's. I ran some more speed test today and the best I could get was 11 down 8 up so still no where near my previous norm.

EDIT:
Ok answered this before I read farther down to see that secretLOVER had already stolen my thunder. Thanks a lot..lol

Re: Gmail App

I noticed this yesterday evening: After updating the firmware yesterday, it found my gmail account (email address) and then re-setup the Gmail app on my phone... and promptly fetched all my emails. Previously I deleted/disabled the account on the Gmail app (no security/password.. so i'm using some other email app). So i did the same again... deleted the account on the Gmail app (can't uninstall it though).
{Note: Do not do delete your Gmail account if you are using the Gmail app.... this is only for people that do not use the Gmail app!}

Re: Car Dock App (that 6-icon thing)

When I tried the Navi yesterday... it asked which one?? ... Google navi or Verizon navi?? Easy renewal... I checked the "remember this" box and then pick the google navi. (It didn't remember/know which is my favorite/default app after the firmware upgrade.) All the addresses/locations in google navi are there... didn't lose any.

Bye.

^That sounds like fine tuning, refining, or continuous improvement on the firmware and that's always a great thing that respectable companies do. I think a new radio requires some hardware (metal, transistors, crystals, coils, silicon/semiconductor, and those kind of physical stuff). bye.

In the android community new baseband firmware is commonly referred to as a "new radio".

Oy went to update it but now it won't do anything when I click check new..but just yesterday it let me open the update options...

Don't really see a point to update but my phone keeps freezing so figured the update would perhaps fix that..

Reboot your phone go into software update, hit check new even though it doesn't open, then open status instead of check new, then back out of software update and it should be ready to update.

The only problem I have with my phone is a timezone issue. When set to Automatic, it changes to Pacific time instead of Arizona, or Mountain and is behind by one hour. I can uncheck Automatic and manually set it, but that not only causes problems with a few apps (My Verizon Mobile, NFL Mobile), but if traveling to different time zones the time won't automatically correct itself.

I read the Benefits to the Software Upgrade and didn't see any mention of this issue being resolved, or even addressed.

Has anybody experiencing this issue, noticed it being resolved after installing the update?

Thanks...

My Rezound insisted that I was on Mountain Time when I was in Vegas. That was before the update.

Not sure but could this be because AZ doesn't observe daylight savings? Therefore(as you probably know) people in AZ never have to do a time change. You may have to manually set it to Mountain time this time of year and Pacific after the Spring time change? If this is the case, it would really suck considering all the "smarts" these phones have! ;)

My Eris worked fine. Never had any issues with it keeping the correct time. I think it has something to do with 4G and the Rezound. Based on the previous reply I will try the update and hopefully get the same results.

I just did the "OTA" (Against my better discretion) and things appear fine (Knock on wood). I think the speeds are about the same, but I don't kill myself worrying over it! As long as the phone does what i need it to do, who cares! I get between 9 and 13 meg down and about 5 to 8 meg up. That's more than enough speed for a phone in my opinion. :)

It's not like I'm downloading movies and using torrent.

Man, phone works perfectly now didn't even plan on updating to ice cream sandwich because of the bugs and lag I went through with that. Is there anyway to prevent my phone from pushing the update without watching it 247

Try manually downloading and then reject the update. Or a surefire way is to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. Then freeze some of the VZW bloatware with Titanium Backup. If the update starts to install, it will then fail.

Sorry, I know that is overkill but it will definitely work.

I tried this and still nothing..dont really wna loose all my stuff through a factory reset...but now im leaning on against getting the update after reading about the verizon location agent...

Ok. I previously stated the OTA worked flawlessly, well it destroyed my phone after I restarted my phone twice because of severe battery drain. My formally perfect phone got stuck in an infinite boot loop, experienced FC that I had never experienced before and even worse was the battery drain due to the new VZW bloatware Location Service agent, which causes the phone to stay wake and drain the battery significantly. VZW screwed up again. The only way to get my Rezound to boot properly was to do a manufacture reset. Unfortunately, the battery drain problem still exist because Location Agent can not be disabled even after it is forced stopped. DO NOT INSTALL OTA update if you can. It makes a superb phone bad.

Installed the update yesterday afternoon. So far no ill affects from the update. It has so far resolved 2 issues I was having.

The first being when the time was set to Automatic, it would not keep the correct time zone. So far it is working the way it should (fingers crossed).

The other issue was when using My Verizon and NFL Football Mobile these apps would always require me to login and then would say the service was unavailable and to try again later. After the update I tried each app and they ran without any issues.

Ran some speed tests and speeds are the same as before the update. My signal level at home did increase by about 10dBm (-66dBm).

So far, so good...:)

I've had the same issue with my Rezound. I manually set the Timezone to AZ and forgot about it.

My HTC TP2 (WinMo) on VZW also had this problem. It's annoying.

My HTC Evo 4G on Sprint never had this problem.

I'm thinking it's a HTC/VZW thing.

I did the update, I'll keep an eye out for Timezone weirdness.
