Help Turn off 4G?

I live in a non 4G LTE area on AT&T, and I notice when I'm not under wifi that my Skyrocket is constantly searching for a 4G signal. Few questions-

1. Is this sucking up battery life? If so, how do you turn it off if you can? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will take more juice for the radio to find a signal..I just turn off data unless I need it honestly and it will save you more battery life. Wifi also uses less battery than data

To turn it off go to settings > wireless and network> mobile networks> toggle use packet data on/off

you can completely turn off data as mentioned above

you can not turn off LTE/4G unless you are rooted

once rooted you can replace the settings apk with the rogers settings apk, or flash a rogers rom..the option to use hspa/gsm is not locked on their version like it is on ours
