Maxx is in the mail.

I can't believe all the hype with the Nexus and it is a complete failure in my eyes.

Constant dropping of 3g to 4g.

I worked for Apple and I still love all apple products but I found myself bored with iOS5. To say the least I am disappointed in the phone pickings for Android. I did decide to go with the Maxx and hope it does not let me down.

I hope I don't get a bunk phone. I hate dealing with manufactures with THEIR phone defects........

Do they sell extended batteries for the maxx? Being in the Army I could use the added battery life in the field.

Good luck man...

My Maxx is all packed up and going back to Verizon. I just couldn't go from a 720p screen with ICS to the Maxx's screen running Gingerbread, just couldn't do it!

Overall the Maxx is a fine phone, the battery will indeed last a full day without skipping a beat, even in the short time I messed around with it, I couldn't kill that sucker...

But in my eyes to spend $649 on a phone, it better be running the newest software, and kick the phones butt that its replacing. Not the case here IMO...luv ICS, what can I say.

I'll make due with my Nexus for now, and see what Mobile World Congress brings.

gosh darn it sean!!!!!! :D:D

Haven't you flip-flopped back a forth a few times over the last 2 months or so?

I couldn't do it man! Even with the ehh battery life and wonky signal I still love the Nexus...

I know I could do some tinkering to the Maxx and stuff....but the loss of a 720p screen , and pure ICS was enuff to sway me right back to the Nexus.

Waitin on Mobile World Congress to see what we'll be getting in Spring.

I'd have to agree... ICS is excellent for the most part. But the Nexus, not so much.

Originally I was looking at the Nexus before I heard of the MAXX. I had bought a used Fascinate that had been rooted and ICS rom installed for cheap to try out ICS.

I didn't like it. I didn't like how you switched from app to app with that fancy recent app thingy. I didn't like how apps and widgets were literally on the same drawer. And, Nexus specific, I didn't like the 3 buttons on the bottom and the lack of the menu and search buttons. It's really upsetting (to me) to see the search and menu button go... I really like those on my phones and use them constantly.

That's funny, the recent app history feature is probably my favorite part of Android 4.0 and would be one of the things I'd miss most if I bail on my Nexus. I love how I can leave an app to get to another one, then come back to where I was in the previous app right away. What I wouldn't miss is crappy signal strength. I can't wait to see what new devices released with 4.(?) will be like. Obviously Galaxy Nexus will soon give way to a much better spec'd device.

forget the operating system, the screen alone is the major deciding factor for me. that's just me though, to each his own.

to the OP: i woulda tried an exchange first if i were you, maybe you got a crapper. enjoy the maxx. seems like a good one too.

Well I do use this feature but on ICS it's like a scrolling list of huge pictures or whatever it's hard to explain. What I prefer is long pressing the home key which brings up a small window of recent apps and the icons associated with app. That's the way it was on my Fascinate and MAXX.

Right, but don't you just get a few of the recent ones on Gingerbread?

ICS keeps track of them all! I love that feature.

Yes it keeps track of 8 of the most recently used ones. I would think that would be enough for multi-tasking. Any larger, you might as well go back to you home screen or app drawer and pick the app again instead of scrolling through a large list of apps.

Its more than that tho...

You can swipe away what you dont want to see and use anymore. It can be an ever changing list at your whim and not the last 8 most recently used.

And I just like the setup on ICS better....:p That was one of the things I liked about ICS.

Im also going from the Nexus to the Maxx.

However, I loved the Nexus. Had a custom rom and it ran great! Battery life was disappointing though. No matter what kernel or tweaks I tried, the screen is just too much of a power sucker.

Hoping the Maxx will get much better battery! Motoblur is terrible, but I can bear it if the battery life is awesome.
