There is no way of doing that, not with the screen Razr or any other Android devices have.
There used to be option on phones that had other physical buttons. For instance some allowed you to press home twice to unlock ... but this just puts more wear on those keys ... so even though people liked it I'm not really sure how it helped.

I am also looking for a similar app. I need to have the "power" button (on my Samsung Charge) set to end a phone call, as I could be on the wrong screen to end a call, or also the "auto dialers" often start calling the wrong person - so I need that button for ending calls, but I am often on a call, say to voicemail, or other calls using speakerphone and I can't get the screen to come back on so I can use the key/dial pad.. NONE of the other keys, including volume keys, on the Charge will wake the screen up so I can get to the dial pad. There are a lot of apps out there with mixed reviews, include Shake apps, Keep on apps - some keep your phone screen on your entire phone call - which is probably a battery drain, some are "looking" all the time for a certain scenario - also maybe a battery drain - I am game to try a few, but like some, I don't want to install a bunch of apps on my phone as you can never be sure they are all the way uninstalled, and could adversely affect other things. does anyone else have a Samsung Charge where the volume keys will wake up the screen? I have NoLED and I normally had the "disable volume keys" set to "on" but even un-checking this - the volume keys still won't wake up the screen. I am hoping that someone has found a good resolution for this, and if not, I'll make a list of possible apps and go through installing them, and let you folks know what (hopefully) worked.. but - if one of you great folks has already figured this out, I would love to know.
Thanks very much.

Sometimes, I can get the screen to "wake up" by holding my hand over the sensor for several seconds and releasing, and sometimes not.. sometimes I can get the volume switches to wake it up, and sometimes not.. so in the end, I still get stuck not being able to get my dial pad when I need it - although I hate the thought of keeping my screen awake always during a call. Thoughts still welcomed!

i wondered this too, especially since that buttons are a little looser than i'm used to on my GN. i guess there's always a warranty exchange if it falls off lol

I have to think that they test the heck out of these buttons and expect lots of usage. With that said, I do have a widget on my screen, "Screen Off FX" that turns the screen off without having to hit the power button.

I was reading this an realized with my DROID original I can slide out the keyboard and the screen comes on, so no button pressing! But I don't use that much however, and I press the power button at least 100+ times a day. And it is still working 2 years later just fine. As long as Motorola is staying up to par on their power button manufacturing with their newer phones, there should be no problems.

I found this thread while searching for a solution to my Droid4 not accepting the work-around I've done on my two prior Android phones. This should work for you:

Browse to root/system/usr/keylayout
You'll want to edit qwerty.kl in a text editor and set the VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN keys to WAKE, just how POWER is set to WAKE.

That worked on my Droid and Droid 2 Global, and I presume it will work for you all.

This does not work on my Droid4, unfortunately. I've edited the three other files to the same effect, and it is not functioning. I use my power button as "end call", and sometimes I just want to turn the screen on without ending my call or having to slide the keyboard out. SO...that's why I'm here in the first place =)

Thanks for that.. I'm not sure I can change my file, since my phone isn't rooted - but my volume_up and volume_down keys already have "WAKE" just like the Power key - but they don't work.. I checked to make sure I don't have an app blocking that - I am using "keep screen" just for phone calls.. it works about 50% of the time! I also wish I could set one of the "hard" buttons on my charge to wake up the phone from whatever it was doing - even just sleeping. Right now in order to access any function on my phone, I have to hit the power button to wake it up, swipe the screen lock and THEN perform whatever I want to do. Would love it if I could kit the home key twice and be at the home screen. Thank you.
