i upgraded to the galaxy nexus last week...and returned it today. whilst it is a great phone and tbh im sad im returning it, i couldnt get a signal with iton both vodafone and orange the maximum i could get was 2 bars, and connecting to 3g was a rarity I'm not keeping a phone that i cant use properly. back to the trusty desire for me!!
now to start looking at new phones again
You may have been a bit quick to to dismiss the phone.
You may even have had a faulty unit.
The signal strength bars are indicators not a calibrated meter. My Desire works perfectly well with one bar showing.
I've even used when it is reporting "No Service" ( it does of course spring to life once a call is initiated)
Did you try using the Nexus when it "only" had 2 bars.
