Good read Gg... quite interesting. Still gonna stick with my vanilla android though... can't get enough of CyanogenMod!

Lol...as soon as my warranty expires I plan to root...am too scared to do it before that

It's really not that hard... especially since the Ace Hack Kit is a one click tool... you know where we are if and when you do want to go for it!

Out of interest, how long have you got left?

About 6 months. I am getting very tempted...will have a look at that thread and read through and may just take a deep breath

It's well worth it... I'd use the AAHK to do the rooting, much easier than the method I had to use... one click, badabing, done!

You MAY have to downgrade first, but that's straight forward. If you do decide to go for it, give us a shout... better to ask questions before doing anything... so many people go ahead and do it, but don't do it right!

Well worth it... my contract is 2yr and being able to flash a new ROM every now and then makes it worth while - like having a new toy every couple of weeks/months!

You know how they say the button is a trap? Well in this instance, the root button isn't.

Your choice though, you know we've all got your back should you decide to take the plunge though.

After reading that, I'm actually less inclined to get the update. I think the 3D screen swipe looks too gimmicky and the messages app looks too iPhone-like now... I like the way it is before 3.0... I do want screenshots though....

CyanogenMod is custom Vanilla Android ROM... that means that it does not have HTC's Sense overlay, but is more like the UI that you would get from one of the Nexus phones

Thanks, Looks pretty snazzy but i don't really see any much pros. I guess i'll stick with Sense.

Sense is always the way to go if you ask me. I bought a HTC instead of other brands because of it, so why go to all the trouble of taking it off? Just my personal choice though.

The 3D effect is very subtle...don't really notice it too much. As for the messaging style you could always download an app that would give you a variet of styles.

Yes, I'm not noticing the 3D thing at all and, whilst the messaging style is a dreadful waste of screen space, it's not too terrible.

I think the latest update provides significant benefits which outweigh the negatives, even if I am surprised that a spinning home screen seems to have been prioritised higher than fixing some significant long-standing bugs and operational shortfalls.

i am a sense fan and have always like it, since i rooted my phone and tried some of the other roms i keep finding myself going back to custom sense roms,

however after trying other roms and giving them a good try i can see myself being converted, dont get me wrong im still a sense fan tho i have notice a slight difference in battery performance, thats the joys from rooting, as D-U-R-X said its nice to make your phone feel fresh and new every now and then
