Razr Maxx or Galaxy Nexus?

actually twice in two posts ;)

....and without a credible source we'll continue to doubt the validity of the "soda lime" claim :D

Google ??

fourth-generation AM OLED Samsung SDI glass volume is up 90 percent of Japan showed that procured from Asahi Glass

that site is saying samsung corning cant provide fortified glasses to samsung for amoled display cuz conring dont allow them to do. (until last year october)
so corning provide GG for amoled display directly to samsung SDI, and rest of fortified glasses for amoled, asahi glass provide it (90% according to that site).

Google ??

Currently, most expensive model Corning Gorilla glass, soda lime glass is low-priced models are applied,

As one who has used the RAZR, G Nex and Rezound...

I would pick the Maxx if I could at no cost. I have the Rezound and RAZR now. And if I could do it all over again...I would have just rocked on with my RAZR and had 2 old phones month to month on my family plan. .

I would also add the functionality of the device too. How the device functions after you get it....

And seeing the job Moto did with Blur and Gingerbread...I have a feeling they will do a good job again with ICS and Blur.

1. Time rent-a-razr/ maxx get's ICS that phone will be old news lol.

2. Razr/maxx has old screen tech no hd is a nono with upcoming phone in hd and ones out now. razr/maxx is old allready.

3.The only thing i like about moto is google soon owning them.

Hey im new first post. But i just got the razr maxx two days ago and i love it. Ive got 2 days of constantly being on 4g on one charge, and i had the razr before and the battery was horrible...it would die in about 8 hours. But the reason for my post was to say if your as hard on phones as i am then get the razr maxx. I dropped it twice on concrete from about 5 feet up and it just has a couple of small nicks with no case. I work on a farm so build was a big issue with me and the maxx is solid, even more so than any other smart phone ive used except the commando of course lol.//

Honestly, how bad are the nexus glitches. I'm choosing between the Gnex and Maxx, leaning towards the Gnex, but I keep hearing of these "unbearable" signal problems, reboots, terrible battery, etc.

Take all that rants on this forum with grain of salt. You just don't see other larger group of happy Gnex owners who don't come in here. Battery life and signal will depend on your location and apps usage pattern. In good signal areas, getting over 10 hours per charge is no problem even in 4G unless you have lots of apps syncing frequently in background.

The only thing is right now 4G connection may be a bit spotty outside good 4G areas. But it looks like newer builds of Nexus seem to be pretty good on reception. So give it try and there is not so much to worry in good signal areas. Also update including radio fix for better connection is supposedly coming soon, which many of us are anxiously waiting for.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. My upgrade date just passed a couple days ago, and I am trying to decide between these two phones. I have been researching the hell out of these phones over the last week and I am still undecided!

I know I will totally enjoy the new ICS system on the beautiful display from the Nexus, considering what phone I am coming from now. The zero-button setup seems extremely slick. I also know I would enjoy the battery life of the Maxx immensely, and its future ICS update. Motocast also seems nifty so that I can stream my music collection from home. I think we all know the specs between the phones here though.

The real dilemma in my decision making process is battery life. Most of what I hear about the battery of the Nexus is that it is generally not the greatest. For me, I wouldn't want to have to plug my phone in to charge during the day. The usual routine for me is to unplug around 8-9am and plug back in at midnight or 1am. On most days I can be at around 20-30% before I go to sleep. On a day with heavier use I can be 5% or dead. But the thing is, that's okay for me when I'm at my house with my charger, but at my girlfriend's I need that phone to last me until next day to get me through classes. I usually can get a quick charge on the way to campus in the car when it is that low in the morning though. I'm not a heavy user, and if the phone got me 18+ hours on my routines (facebook, web/emails, wordfeud, some netflix on boring days) I'd be content with the Nexus. I hear the horror stories of being dead after 5 hours. I just wouldn't be able to take charging midday. Last week actually, I got bored at work and watched 2 episodes of family guy on netflix and my battery drained 40%. If the Nexus can beat this phone in battery life I think I would be set!

(If anyone is wondering, right this second I'm at 70% @ 10h 19m 30s since unplugged. No youtube/netflix/music, just a moderate amount of facebook/e-mail/wordfeud and texts)

I think I would totally love either phone for an upgrade over my original DROID. I'm leaning towards the Maxx right now because it seems like it would fit my needs and last me a day and then some, since I'm not a heavy user. But the Nexus just seems so enticing...

I will be heading to the store this coming week. Maybe the best thing to do will be to hold them both in my hands and see which one feels better.

it comes down to several simple facts. do you want an old OS and a sub-par screen or the newest OS and a much better screen?

all LTE phones on vzw's network have complaints of dropping data/voice, including the maxx. there's a ton of threads on all the maxx forums i'm on. so if that's your deciding factor, you need to go with 3g to avoid multitude of complaints about data/voice drops.

The nexus seems to drop more than any of the other phones...and its not close. Which h sucks because that is what is keeping me off if it. I went back to my thunderbolt due to the massive data problems with the nexus. My bolt drops from time to time but the drops last about 3 seconds. The nexus drops and i had to reboot or wait a long time for reconnect. Want to try the maxx but worried my flashaholicness will get bored real quick. At least with the bolt I can run aosp

i have to strongly disagree. there's tons of threads on all lte phone with the same complaints, the TB is one of the worst offenders, although it sounds like you lucked out with yours.

if you think the GN has the most complaints of data drops-check out the bionic forums. you'll run screaming into the night

does anyone know fo sho if the maxx will get ics before summer? otherwise I'm going with the gnex. I think. maybe...

That's why you avoid anything non-nexus unless you want to root and run custom ROMS.

Moto just announced their ICS update plans....and.....
DROID RAZR
In Evaluation & Planning. Further details to follow.
DROID RAZR MAXX
In Evaluation & Planning. Further details to follow.

That's stage 1 for Moto....as in the OS isn't even in development yet. They also announced a number of older handsets that will be getting it in Q2 and Q3. No chance the Razr gets ICS before July.

Nexus sucks and sluggish! Nexus is just too pure of an Android ICS! It's not user friendly at all. A lot of functions are missing compared to Motorola, Samsung, HTC's Android powered phone.

Furthermore, most of the Android Market's apps are not compartible with ICS yet and they don't work with the pure ICS on Nexus! For example, TouchPal keyboard screwed up big time on Nexus!

I got a Nexus for a week and was so frustrated that even a basic function likes Group SMS isn't there for stock Messge.app. So, I sold my Nexus after a week while the price is still hot before everyone started dumping their Nexus and flood the market with disappointing Nexus which would lower the resale price!

At the end, I got myself a HTC phone!

I hope you enjoy your new phone! I actually liked Sense on my Incredible. I never rooted it and ran stock and never noticed any lag or problems with it.

I have downloaded a LOT of apps on my Nexus and never had any ICS compatability issues, although I did not try TouchPal.

If you had any sluggishness, you had a bad device. The GNex is a Lambourghini.

You can group text with the stock app. Just select more than one person. ??
