They(verizon) used to offer an unlimited 4G hotspot data feature for $30/mo.
When I picked up my maxx I asked about it and was told it had been discontinued. It was on top of any other data charges btw.
Now they offer $20/mo. hotspot but it has a 2GB cap and overage is $20/1GB additional. Not worth it to me. Furthermore I have read on various forums that the hotspot feature is not working properly on the device, no verification on this info, just what I read.

I have had unlimited hotspot since the summer on my Droid Charge and just swotched to RAZR MAXX and it works well, have not used it much yet. but I use it enough to protect the invenstment in unlimited hotspot. If you have the older 4G unlimited data plan it is still possible to enable unlimited hotspot, there are shoudl be a few threads witht he feature code you need to ask for when you call up.

Yes, the hotspot will do either 3G or 4G. I picked up that option October. It is the only way we can obtain a large amount of data, there is no cable or DSL here.

I received a Razr replacement phone today for the Revolution I had originally purchased. It may not be an issue with the Rev, just my location has a strange issue and VZ sent me this phone to try out. Not sure if it solves the problem, so I thought I would check out this page and see what was going on. Perhaps help me decided on which phone to keep.

I have unlimited and hotspots service (at a cost of $30 for each service, or $60 per month). It's pretty good and I've had my kids connect two ipod touches to my Razr without issue. Works well, but eats battery like crazy. I need to swap into the Max as soon as costco gets them.

When using mobile hotspot I plugged my RAZR into USB and it wasn't enough power to keep it fully powered. The battery slowly went down until I plugged it directly into a power outlet. Without being plugged into anything you can almost watch the battery gauge go down, especially when a lot of data is being transferred.

unlimited 4G hotspot hasn't been discontinued. if you have unlimited data. i took mine off week ago and called in like 10 min;s ago and got it back.
