Ya i never really used hotspot feature except a few times when i had my laptop with me and its a nice feature to have too :/ i mean i would imagine it be ok for web browsing on laptop or something just nothing hardcore like downloading movies or trying to use it to play online games. The thing i didnt like was they said that if u go over ur limit or even just download to big of a file on ur phone, they can and will shut ur data off right then and there and u have to do some survey on why u use to much data or something like that...lol

Ugh decisions decisions...I still feel ima switch but might wait till i can get some hands on at the store and play with it myself and see. Battery life also worries me cuz on the MT i get great great battery life, way beyond what it says on stock, says 8 hrs for the LG but i assume that means if u talk for 8hrs straight on the phone but ya.

Errr idk, i do like having that tethering option incase its needed as back up incase net goes wonky. I remember seeing topics here on the MT bout tethering so is it even against VM TOS?

EDIT: ya just read ur post on that, hmm..well chit lol. is that in VM too? cuz i have used it like i said through VM and havent got in any trouble with them bout it and i downloaded alot of stuff when i was in NC without net.

Yes it is against VM's TOS. Battery life on my MT4GS so far has been actually great compared to the MT and this is with a 4g radio (extra power), sense (which also takes likes 3GB of internal storage!), brighter screen, dual-core, but it does have a 1500 or 1520 mAh battery (can't remeber and too lazy to look it up or take my case off...). Granted while I am working I turn off my mobile data just because I want to be able to monitor what it is downloading. But when I turn on the radio and use it for 15 minutes during my break it only drains a few percent. Compared to the G2X I'm not sure, but I would think that it would come close to that.

Edit: I don't think VM really cares all that much about tethering otherwise they would block access to apps on the market on the stock rom, but if you are streaming GBs of data yeah they would probably shut your service off or something, but doing some light browsing doesn't really matter and they have no way of knowing.

Sounds good, just as long as it dont die within like 5hrs or normal use, my MT lasts all day with normal to heavy use pretty decently.

Well if its against VM TOS and i used it and never got in trouble then i assume it be ok to do as just a back up but not daily but still not a biggy if not. What is a biggy is how they seem to treat the customers about data usage daily that they monitor. And if i read right...i swear the guy posted that ur not even allowed to stream movies/youtube vids on there network cuz it consumes to much data so youtube aint even allowed on the phone...idk if thats really the case but this post was in oct of 2011 i read, if thats the case then ill have to pass on the phone if i cant even stream vids off youtube cuz that would mean i couldnt even skype video chat often.

Company looking kinda shady from what im reading and another post i read in 2011 says the data cap is now 2gigs and...ur only allowed 160mb per day or u raise the red flags...one guy even mentioned going to VM and the triumph lol.

If thats how the company is though i actually might have to pass, just seems way way to strict even on stuff the phone allows. Oi...

EDIT: ya cuz when i was in NC i had no net when i was staying with uncle and i used the tethering quite a bit, and i did download a few big files but i didnt share/seed or nothing but never got a warning but i only downloaded stuff for like 1 day but ya, ST seems kinda strict bout daily usage and if 160mb is the max per day before u get warnings just aint right for customers who aint even nearing the cap.

ya see..read this, the youtube is mentioned in here in 3 paragraph.

I did not have a good relationship with Straight Talk. I’ve been their client for 3 months. Here is my story!.

In their ad they would tell you that everything is unlimited for only $45 dollars,,, blah, blah blah,,,, but they won’t tell you that everything is actually very much limited once you join them,,, my service was disconnected permanently without a notice,,, when I started my investigation with customer service (by the way,,, hideous) they just simply apologized and told me to read that small print in my contract again'.

Here are few major things you CAN NOT DO: (per contract)!. No YouTube". No uploading, streaming or downloading (only very very limited),,, can’t watch TV.. Neither can’t text a lot nor freely talk'. Basically cannot use your phone to its full potential;. They are monitoring how long you are talking and how much you are texting,,, if it’s too much they would simply permanently disconnect your service without a notice nor refund,,,

ONE thing I was permitted to do: I was able to check my emails UNLIMITED!!! Hurray! My personal wish to you reader,,, DO NOT JOIN THEM,.

EDIT: that was in june of 2011 by the way...seriously no youtube and on another site, u cant even stream music...

I would just go into Walmart and ask about it or go onto straight talks website and ask about it and see what they have to say, because people don't always know what they are talking about and it would be better to get it directly from them.

yea ima go to main site, was just seeing what ppl said of there service. If thats true though about youtube and even calls and texts, ill have to pass because i can truly understand the data cap per month on DATA, but phone calls and text??? Thats a little absurd honestly so gonna do some more research and if the phone is released tomorrow i might swing by there and see and try to talk to someone who knows about it some more.

Think ima head to bed soon but thanks again for all the info and help and ill post back what i find out incase anyone else wants to know cuz if i had got the phone and all that turns out to still be the way they do buisness, i would of been a pissed off cracka lol, but ya, later man.

That TOS is the stupidest one I have ever seen!

So basically with ST's unlimited plan you can do nothing... What's the point of it?

LOL i just got done reading that on there site and was gonna post it on here. So u saw that about them admiting that if u talk to long on a phone call basically, they can shut ur service off...seriously? So ya i think i got my answer but just for kicks ima see if i can talk to them tomorrow on the phone and see if a person actually admits to that because i feel the need to tell them that is stupid, but ya, u beat me to the post lol.

Alright bed time now and least i can sleep easier knowing how shady they are, later.

If you check on T-mo's site you can see how good their 4g coverage is where you are and if you get good coverage then just get 1 of their prepaid plans and buy a postpaid phone. (ebay or craigslist is the way to go if you don't want to pay full price, and don't mind if its used. I mean you can find good deals on sealed phones there too.)

Posting thisfrom phone so bare with me lol. Thought bout doing that for t mobile's plan but not sure what phones are good through them and when I ebayed a few before the priceswere way high but once I'm back home ill see what I can find.

I would get 1 of the 5 4G dual-core phones they have, HTC Mytouch 4G Slide, Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Sensation, or the LG G2X. Some of them are kind of pricey, but if you look on ebay or craigslist you can find some around the $200-$300 range which isn't bad considering these are all $500+ phones.

if i had to choose out of those i probably lean toward the galaxy s2, been hearing good things about that phone and seen 1 review before while looking at another phone other day. Is t mobiles really unlimted 4g lol? or is there caps with them too

Their 4g isn't unlimited, their data is. Once you go over the cap for 4g it drops down to 2g (edge). I get 5GB of 4G a month and so far with the 3 days of my plan I have used 30 mbs... And the Galaxy S2 is gonna be the most expensive out of all of them. Its also unthrottled power, which can be good or bad, compared to the MT4GS which has a asymmetrical cpu meaning 1 core runs everything that's in the background and the other one runs everything that's in the foreground. The performance on both is quite amazing even with touchwiz (for the GS2), and sense (for the MT4GS), which these also take like 3GB of internal storage... The Amaze and Sensation are also running sense. Now the G2X on the other hand is stock android with nothing running on top of it. I mean if you can get a GS2 for cheap. Do it!

Edit: also one thing. My friend has the GS2 Epic (sprint's version) and he got a text and a call at the same time and the notification for both played and kept playing and wouldn't stop until the call stopped. He couldn't even answer the call... Granted I don't know if that was a bug in the software or what, but just thought I would tell you.

i spoke to S.T and they told me that the lg optimus 2x is going to run on att network and also roam on tmobile too. There are gazillions of people waiting for this phone to come out and many of whom are switching from contracts to prepaid. Thanx to the ECONOMY for making unlimited prepaid wireless available to all.( LMAO)
