Now that a couple days have passed, I want to add a couple of disclaimers for anyone who may be new to this thread. Also, thanks to Synthoid at XDA forums for posting the original file which was copied from an OTA push to his Bionic.

First of all, the 5.9.902 update file below in post #10 is only for people who are currently on version 5.5.893. If you are on the leaked 5.9.901, have a look at post #38 of this thread at DroidForums.net which has been reported to patch you up from .901 to .902 without having to go backward.

Secondly, root is not required to flash the update. However, if you are rooted, you can most likely retain root through the upgrade -- but you MUST perform the Forever Root steps in order to do so. See this page for manual instructions or use one of the automated Forever Root methods posted throughout this forum.

Lastly, if you are new to this sort of thing, please know that flashing manual update files like this is not supported by VZW or Moto, and will likely void your warranty. You do this at your own risk, and neither VZW, Moto, or I are responsible if anything goes wrong. I will attempt to answer questions though.

Oh, and if you need instructions for flashing the file, see post #26 below.

Have fun. :)

There's a whole lot of confusion in the XDA thread.

I sorted through that XDA thread and found the correct file by comparing file sizes. Update worked perfect for me and I even retained root (with Forever Root). Because of the confusion over there, rather than linking I decided to host the correct file on my Dropbox for now.

Here's the verified correct .902 update file.

Remember to defrost any frozen bloat first. Good luck and happy updating! :D

What build number were you on before you flashed? I am wondering if I will be able to get there from 901.

The below screenshot is from my phone, just to demonstrate that this is in fact .902 and not .901:

From what I have read you need to be on 5.5.893 to flash this. If you want to root or maintain root do it while your on 5.5.893 with forever root.

Correct, the file is signed for .893 unfortunately so it won't install over .901. I read that P3Droid is working on a method to get around this, but if you don't want to wait you would need to flash back to .893 using one of the methods that can be found on the forums.

If you want to retain root, you MUST do Forever Root before installing .902 -- there are multiple reports of people losing root otherwise.

I don't want to go backwards again, last time I was bricked for a week.

I just found out there's apparently a smaller update that VZW is pushing out to the handful of people who were sent the .901 OTA accidentally. It's supposed to upgrade you straight to .902 without having to backtrack. Some folks who installed the leaked version of .901 have tried it and are reporting good results. Check post #38 of this thread for a link to the file if you want to try your luck. I can't vouch for it since I was never on .901 but the thread makes it sounds very promising.

I was on forever rooted, sideloaded 901, lots of frozen bloat, hacked camera, different boot animations, etc., using the file linked at droidforums.net:

Blur_Version.5.9.901.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip
MD5 81AA48EA8D67B830A11FF727E6DA284F
(this file is only good going from 901 to 902)

Put it on my EXT-SD, booted into stock recovery, installed from SD and retained root, hacked cameras, frozen bloat, etc. and am scooting along on 902.

It's all good in the hood

I guess I wasn't one of the ones "soaked" despite being asked to get ready for it by Motorola. For those who have gotten .902, any noticeable differences?

Biggest difference I'm seeing so far over .893 is much faster handoffs between radios. WiFi to 4G, 4G to 3G, etc. are all nearly instantaneous now. I've never had serious data drop issues but it was taking longer than optimal to switch on .893, up to 30 seconds or so, and sometimes I'd have to toggle Airplane Mode to get it to switch. Handoffs seem flawless now. Battery life seems somewhat better too. I never ran .901 so this is strictly comparing .893 to .902.

clicked the above link and extracted it to a folder on my phone. How do I apply it? there are 5 folders each with several items in them as well as 4 other files
