Firmware Update

I just got an 80.XX mb firmware update. I checked settings it says 2.3.6.

Anybody else? I am not rooted. Where can I see what updates it is? I see a few things different and things are more fluid.

This is the update that I have been waiting for since I got my Note. Basically a bug fix release to 2.3.6 which has the effects you describe. The ICS update will come later.

I don't know why I have not got this yet (since it has been out for a while), but it may be because I imported my Note from a neighbouring country. One of these days I may just download it and use kles to update.

Makes me wonder if the White Note is different. Mine came with 2.3.6 when I bought it. I'm on baseband N7000XXKJ6, I wonder how that differs from the Black Note.

Mine is white. I got it a week ago here in Taiwan. I had to go check for updates in the phone section.

Hopefully we get ICS soon. Samsung is already hinting at the next phone Galaxy Note S.

Sometimes I really hate waiting than getting than thinking I should wait.

I love the phone regardless, but if the dislay is much better I'd be a bit bummed.

Certainly the US and European versions will be different, since the 3G frequencies are different, but I would expect the internals of the grey (sorry, blue) and white models to be the same. I still see no update. I am such a sad panda.

It wouldn't be different because I have the European version. The Galaxy Note isn't released in the US yet, and won't be until February 19th.

Looks like I just got the same firmware update as you did MonthOldPickle.

I got mine from amazon.com from US, but suppose its the German version. And nope, there is no update for me too... It works fine actually, doesn't matter as long as there is something new in it. Waiting for ICS to come.. hopefully

I updates mine note via Kies. Now my battery is dying twice as fast and its not as responsive at all. Can i go backwards somehow? Please help.

I updated my white G. Note the other day too and it's on 2.3.6 - same as Pickle. Got no clue what the upgrades are...no one really seemed to have replied with an answer yet.

Does anyone know?

I just got the over the air message saying there was an update available. I then opened up Kies on my PC and it also said there was a firmware update available. I updated on my PC but did not update the actual Note yet.

The upgrade message is :
Current galaxy note firmware update PDA:KK1 / Phone:KJ6 / CSC:KK1 (TGY)
Upgrade to Latest galaxy note firmware update PDA:LA2 / Phone:LA4 / CSC:LA2 (TGY)

I am in India, got my firmware update message today. Although I had no issues, I updated anyway. Still shows Gingerbread 2.3.6. Hopefully, it'll improve battery life even more.
