Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Welp, certain MKV's that I play through the external HDD stop with anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes left in the movie. It is only certain movies too. Sometimes I can fast forward and rewind the MKV's through my TV's controls and usually that is the file that I CAN watch the whole movie. If I can't use the controls through my TV, that is usually a sign that the video will stop short of the end. They all work perfectly fine on VLC on my computer, but for some reason only certain files won't play the whole video on my TV.

MKV is a container format, the means it's a wrapper around a video file and audio file. For example you can have an MKV with a H264 video stream and a acc audio stream. This means that not all MKVs are the same, in vlc look at the codec information and see if it was one codec that is causing the problem. If so you can use vlc or handbreak to reencode the video to a format the TV supports.

You can also see if the TV has web support using something like TVersity to just stream on the fly from your TV. I used TVersity to stream video to my phone (via flash) and it's awesome. Orb, xmbc, etc.. are some other on the fly streaming products.

The video codec on one file that stopped last night is: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC.
Same codec as another that failed on me awhile back. One that worked the other day has a codec of: MPEG-4 Video (XVID)

So it seems the H264 is causing the problem, but why in God's name would it run perfectly fine the whole movie and end 5-10 minutes before it is supposed to?

EDIT: I just looked at a few more videos that I have with the same H264 codec and they didn't end early. Hmm...The whole Homeland Season 1 had no problems playing and that was an H264 codec, along with other movies that played fine.

AVC is H264, Xvid is H263. I would think reencoding the file to a known working container type would be the best solution, although depending on your pc configuration, time consuming

Good Morning all, decided to stop waiting for the OTA of 4.04 and flashed this morning using ROM Manager. So far, here is what I notice: Better signal strength (not just bars but dbm), faster screen rendering, quicker revert to data from wifi or airplane mode, way faster boot time, quicker camera launch and better focus lock with shutter button. I will play with it more today and report back. Here's to hoping it helps with the one way audio issues... :)

Negative on the one way audio. First two calls on 4.04 l had the one way audio happen, first call from the start of the call, them I immediately called him back and it happened a few seconds into the call (naturally I was talking to my accountant). Third call to same person, no problem. I immediately saved the log cat, so I will look at that when I get home in a little while. Maybe, 4.05 will be the charm!

Way to scare me! :D

That's the dev giving direct access to his app rather than the donation version in the Market.

Note to staff, not piracy. :)

I didn't think it would be - but I was totally bazinga'd!
Right, sorry for not being clearer!

Either way, it may not be relevant - I'm not sure the app is ICS-compatible yet. :(

EDIT: Scratch that, it is ICS-compatible, I'm just too dumb to figure it out. :p Going to read more of the XDA thread.

EDIT2: Got it! :)

Morning all!
So the wife dragged me into shopping yesterday and I let her roam Nordstrom while I checked out the rest of the mall. Found a BBM store and popped in just to browse. Well, they ad a ton of tablets, and what do you know, a Transformer Prime! :D Been looking forever for one, especially on Amazon since I have a gift card I want to use. Well, the thing was damn smooth (already had ICS), screen was gorgeous and wow was it thin. Clerk come's over to ask me if I needed any help and I said I was shocked they had them and how many he had in stock. To my horror: "I sold the last one this morning" :(
Whelp, he looked up inventory of the nearby stores (we have countless BBs in the DC metro area) and said NONE of them had any either. Ugh, said he could ship it and I'd get it in 2 days but I declined. Makes me angry that Amazon HAS them but for hugely inflated prices (3rd party sellers). Ah well, guess I'll just keep playing that waiting game .
Anyway, good day to all. Going to be a busy one for me at work as we have a huge catering order

morning all. So I have a quick question since I am still running AOKP M3, lean 1.10 and I am using interactive. Plus I upgraded to the 4.0.4 radios and boot loader. However....I am still getting somewhere between 20 and 40% android os. I have seen many recommendations over the last few months for apps that might tell me exactly whats running....but most of them are simply logs in an app that is constantly running....is there something I am missing? What might you all suggest?
Back story....I romd in January because of this issue, and basically found that Google talk, Google +, fb etc were using all my battery when I was still stock, but even now, I know that those apps are controlled....so what else could be running that is using the android os for so much keep awake time??????? The android os keep awake is easily double or triple, the screen on time still everyday.
Don't get me wrong, I am getting a full days use without a charge on a stock battery, so I am good...but I was hoping to be able to narrow down what is using so much by now. Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks for the update. That is NOT encouraging news. I feel like we're on a hamster wheel, going nowhere. First the wheel was called 4.0.3, now it's called 4.0.4, and now rumors we're changing the name of the wheel to 4.0.5. All with no official date on when the wheel will be installed in our little hamster habitats. I would think a problem with a phone making, well, PHONE CALLS, would be at the top of the piority list of fixes. But what do I know?
