I was looking on Amazon for a car charger for my Droid RAZR and came across multiple results, all of which have high ratings. One I was looking at called itself a "Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger" and I remember hearing bad things about any type of "rapid charging device" that it ****s up your battery. Is this the case with this charger?

Amazon.com: Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger: Electronics

What chargers do you guys use/like to use? I figured I could get it on the cheap since it's just a little car charger anyways.

Put it this way. At that price, I am picking one up for myself. That is a pretty good deal. :)

I don't think there is an issue with the charger. It appears it is an OEM Motorola charger, which means the quality should be a bit better. Rapid rate charging means it is able to supply a higher amount of current to the battery. According to a reviewer, it is suppling 950mA of current. The standard charger supplies 500mA. I used chargers that supply up to 2A of current. Just because the cable can supply that much current doesn't mean that much current is being delivered.

In summary, the charger is fine. Pick one up.

just buy the short squatty two port verizon adapter that fits just in the cig. lighter/12v port (it's like an inch and a quarter tall). Then get a usb cable from monoprice.com of your required length. This setup works great for me. I have a cable run underneath the dash, and is hidden until it come out below the front pillar near the car dock.

Ive got 5 of the motorola rapid rate chargers, they are the best quality out of the ones I have tried, and they charge much faster than a usb adapter and cable or a cheapo charger....ive had 2 of them almost 2 yrs, been thru every moto droid phone ive had,my aftermarket chargers all lasted 3-6 months tops....only downside to the moto chargers is the bright blue color can be irratating at night, and the cigarette plug is long, and cant be bent,It blocks the cupholder in one of my cars...

I have an iTips charger with the micro USB tip. I got it about 8 years ago with the proprietary tip for an old Samsung flip phone. Upgraded to the mini USB tip for the moto razr flip phone back in the day, used it for my moto q as well. Upgraded the tip again to the micro USB tip for my HTC desire, and now use it for my Droid RAZR. If you haven't figured already this is a charger with interchangeable tips. This thing literally outlived my last car.

In this case the rapid charger just means that it supplies wall adapter voltage to the phone rather than computer USB voltage, resulting in a faster charge than if you plugged into a USB port on the unit in a new car. As a result I bring my charger on road trips even when we take my wife's car with the USB port in the dash.
