Hey everyone, I have an Evo 3d and the last couple of weeks I have been having problems with texting. Using the stock messaging app I would get SMS errors that would cause the same message to send up to 12 times to the person I was talking to, or if my messages starting going into 2 or 3 texts they would only get the last part of the message and not the entire message. I tried switching to go sms pro and I am still having the same problem.

Sprint has been giving me a run around and telling me there is nothing wrong with my phone, infact the guy today told me go sms is causing the problem when I tried telling him i just got go sms the other day and ive had the problem longer than that he still insisted i was wrong. Anyone know of what may be causing this or how to fix it?? Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome aboard. I have the same phone. And I even went ahead and installed SMS pro and I couldn't find the problem you talking about. So, I've narrowed down this issue to what might be causing this - An installed application causing conflict with the messaging app. Uninstall all previously installed apps. If you haven't clear data from the messaging app - you need to do that.

How is your reception when you send these messages? A poor data connection can sometime cause repeated messages or incomplete messages. We see issues like that on the forum all the time. People will post a message on the boards, but due to clogged bandwidth on either the user's end or the server's end, the post may accidentally get repeated. I imagine this could also happen with SMSes, as they are similar.

So it could be that Sprint is correct, your device may not actually have a problem. It could be their tower or Clearwire's fault. If alternate apps do the same thing, I'd be even more certain that it's not your device. If it happens frequently enough, I'd recommend using Google Voice and set it up to integrate with your Sprint number at http://voice.google.com. It'll keep your Sprint number but it'll send messages through Google's servers instead of Sprint's. You lose MMS capabilities, though.

Wow thank you for the quick replies!

Rush, I did a hard boot and wiped it all clean when i first started getting the problem. And Sprint has been doing the same thing everytime i go in there lol.

Jerofld, I noticed it happens the most when I am at work or home (because lately thats all I ever am since going to overnights!) and I also noticed that my 3g connection at both places are very weak and my signal bars go up and down constantly. infact I was roaming for a few seconds earlier today in my apartment. I never thought anything of it and just assumed it wouldnt be it since it just started doing that a little over a month ago and I have had the phone since June.. I will give the google Voice thing a try,

Thank you!

mine does this with handcent or any messaging app

even when i have full service, i will go to send a message then the service will drop to 1 or no bars then it will send the message numerous times (one time it send 22 of the same message)

i guess its a good thing sprint has unlimited text since they carry htc's worst phone
