Help Rezound GPS question

I have a question regarding GPS on the Rezound. I currently have a Charge but before that I was a HTC freak. GPS on my DINC is "incredible" but the Charge definitely has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I go 30 miles (40 minutes) before I get a lock when I travel back east (Rhode Island) from Seattle. Sometimes it's relatively fast. Just wondering what the GPS experience with the Rezound is. I've really got no other complaints with the Charge. But I do have it customized. Thanks in advance and sorry for the slightly off-topic post.

My Rezound's GPS seems as incredible as my DInc was. Quick lock and accurate.

Just fired up GPS Test from inside my house. Within five seconds it showed 11 GPS satellites in view and 7 in use, and that's not unusual. Someone could correct me, but I think it requires 5 satellites for a location fix. It is very very fast compared to either my old Charge or OG Droid. Loving the Rez GPS!

I am coming from the incredible and I had both the nexus and the rezound and the rezound is an upgrade from the incredible. The nexus is not.

As soon as I enabled GPS and went into NAV, popped in my address I was going to, it was pretty much instant. Locked on a satellite just fine instantly. Thanks to the ridiculous extended battery I have (2750mah) I didn't even need to plug it into a charger lol.

Had the Dinc too. I used the GPS on the rezound the past week. One word, Incredible!

my GF has the charge and she has had no problems with her GPS (although we are out west)

my rezound functions just like my old INC...no complaints

I came from an HTC Thunderbolt and the Rezound's GPS lock seems rather instantaneous especially compared to the Thunderbolt. I don't think I've noticed any lag with the GPS lock, even on cloudy days.

Rezound has the best phone GPS I've ever seen. It beats the Dinc's hands down, and the DInc's wasn't bad. My DX was a step back from the DInc, so Rezound compared to my DX is like night and day.

The GPS on the Rezound locks on instantly!!

I was once at a silly seminar/conference.... they said those who will not stop to ask for directions please stand on this side. Those that will stop to ask for directions or use a GPS stand on this other side. Ouch... that's not fair... they don't have a third side!!

All right, I am totally convinced!! Even amused. Think I will hurry on down to COSTCO on Tuesday and pick one up. It's as soon as they can upgrade me. Of course, this is assuming they have one in stock. They were suppose to get a new shipment yesterday but we're in the middle of a winter storm up here in the NW!!!

No!! Don't buy from Costco!!! There's no savings there!! We go in to buy just a phone but come out with the big shopping cart overflowing with all sorts of other stuff!!! That place is dangerous!!

Technically 4. 3 for position and 1 for ephemeris/almanac data

I must have a malfunctioning Rezound. I've got GPS enabled, yet it displayed 'Searching for GPS' the entire 45 mins/22 miles of my commute today. I was trying to test the new replacement car dock sent to me to see if it would charge the phone while in GPS mode. I entered my destination and went to navigation and it never resolved itself. I just downloaded the GPS Test app referenced above and had 'No GPS' at my desk so I walked over to the windows and sat there for about 5 minutes and it never changed status.

Any ideas as to how to further troubleshoot my week old phone's GPS function would be most appreciated! Love the phone (even battery life is respectable), but don't know if I need to return it or what.

I think I stumbled upon the answer. In searching far and wide I came across evidence that suggested uninstalling the Google Maps updates would restore the GPS functionality. Tried it and it worked! Suddenly the GPS icon appeared in the task bar (hadn't been there even w/GPS on this morning) and the GPS Test app worked perfectly (and quickly even indoors in my windowless area). I reinstalled the updates and it still seems to work, but if it stops, I'm going to go back to pre-update Google maps app.

Just to report, I've had my rezound for two weeks now. GPS has been great. Usually locks in 5 to 10 seconds but not longer than that. I drove to Seattle last week to check out GPS and 4g. Both worked great. I plugged the phone into the 12 volt adaptor and it actually charged the phone (something my charge couldn't do) the only minor thing was when I presssed the search bottom to say"navigate" it barely heard me. My dinc always seemed to show white at least half way up the microphone.
I haven't traveled to the east coast yet so I don't know how it handles being restarted a long way from where it was turned off.

I've found that the Rezound actually beats my Garmin in GPS reception and lock-speed. The only down side is that Garmin's route algorithm is a little bit better. For some reason Google's navigation misses some opportunities here and there that Garmin's catches. That's not a phone-specific issue, though.

Saturday I went on a trip to see some family. My girlfriend was using her Incredible 2 for GPS. When we started getting into the mountain area her GPS kept loosing the lock it had, or wasn't very accurate. So I started using GPS on my Rezound. We both still had our GPS going. Her phone lost GPS every few minutes, mine kept an accurate lock the entire time. So I guess not all HTC phones have a good GPS, but it seems our Rezounds do.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the GPS on this phone. I too had a mirror experience. I had a friend on a different Android phone and their GPS took forever to lock and lost it. Mine was awesome heading all the way into the mountains (we were going skiing).

I had an original Incredible, loved it. Just got the Rezound, love it too! However, twice now I've gone running outside, used Runkeeper to track my run, and when I was done it had me all over the place. In one case in 20 feet, I jumped not only across the street but on the other side of some houses then back. I tried using only one, two & all three of the GPS options (Google, Standalone, Verizon) but none seemed better than another. It does lock on fast, it just didn't track me like my Incredible did. And it was cloudy, but I never had problems with the Incredible in that situation. I haven't tried uninstalling Google Map updates - and I just saw Maps 6.3 came out. I'll try it again with the new map update and see if that makes any difference. Otherwise I love this phone!

There was one day GPS was all over the place, other than that mine had been accurate. Maybe you were just having a bad GPS day...

Heh, I'm reading down the thread and was going to suggest this to your previous post. Glad you found it on your own. There was just another Maps update yesterday that advertised lower battery drain also, so if your car charger is putting out marginal power then maybe it'll do better now.

FWIW, I've heard there are some buggy location-aware apps that misbehave by leaving the GPS running even when the app goes to sleep, using battery for no reason.

So it occasionally hiccups by a few dozen or a few hundred feet? Doesn't sound awful, but I can see it'd be disconcerting -- especially if you're using something like Tasker that can trigger phone responses depending on your precise location (among other things).

Does it still happen after this latest update?
