GO Launcher EX

I've read some of the threads for go launcher ex but none really answer my questions about it...so here they are. If there's a thread i missed that covers this please let me know....

I've tried it a couple of times and i just don't get it. Is it just a shell that runs over your stock theme?

I don't think I understand how to use it best. so i always quickly uninstall it.

i just recently rooted my phone but i'm afraid to flash any ROMs to it...i can't find any good easy guides on best ways to either or the best trust worthy ROMs out there.

Thanks!!

A launcher is just an app that allows your to view your home screen and app drawer differently. I use ADW Launcher EX and it allows you to change the way your home screens transition between each other, it allows for more customization of the dock, it allows for changes in the way the app drawer loads, etc...I find it very cool and useful. And it doesn't effect your original setup at all. Your current home screens are all still there even if you load and customize GO Launcher...you may need to download a "Home" launcher app which will allow you to switch between the stock launcher and GO...but I think it's worth playing with for a while.

As far as ROMs go, I'm not rooted so I can't help you there...

Good luck!

+1 on Zeam
We have it running on the four Android devices in our household. ICS Launcher also looks interesting.
I used to be a fan of Launcher Pro, until I tried Zeam.

It's so simple and lightweight that it amazede me. The vertical scrolling on the app drawer + transparent background catched my eyes.

Plus, the dock looks really nice with "Fade black" background.

The main difference about 3rd party launchers is they can be used to make your phone look different. You could turn your entire interface to be like Windows Phone 7 if you complete the necessary apps like Zplayer, 7 lock, 7 notifications, Launcher 7, etc. Or you could customize them to whatever you like.

Check the link out. Those homescreens are made using third party launchers like GO, ADW, Zeam and Launcher Pro (those 4 seem to be the favorites).

Greetings Meshane83,

As far as Go Launcher EX is concerned, when you install it, there should be an option that pops up, asking if you would like to copy your home screens. This keeps you from having to recreate your home screen settings.

THANK YOU. That alone makes me want to use Go Launcher more. I have it setup now since I was able to copy the screens over. I think I can get the hang of it now!

so if i use a launcher though i basically have to make all my shortcuts and home screen all over again?

Depends on the launcher. GO Launcher has a tool to migrate your home screens from your stock launcher, it prompts you to download and install it when you run the launcher the first time. If it doesn't, look for Desk Migrate by Lucky Art in the Market. That MAY work with other launchers, it was presented to me with Go Launcher though.

I like GO, it also allows for alternate lock screens using the GO Locker plugin, the Dark Theme for it is pretty slick.

I'm new to the tablet scene and just purchsed a display model of the wi-fi xoom. The stock launcher is missing some features: no plus + icon in upper right corner of main home page and can't tap to see all 5 homescreens. Tap and hold only gives option to change wallpaper. Have done soft and hard reboots and still does not go back for full stock launcher features. Is there a way to get them back or should I just download the GO launcher? I really don't want to have reset my apps or screens (again) - have done so after a few hard reboots. Thanks,
