Who else is waiting?

I appreciate the tip. ;) I was just wondering if derek533 had anything specific in mind when he asked if I was rooted.

Reason I asked, is have you tried switching to another aka different rom than the one you're currently on? I've noticed that on my OG Droid, after awhile with a certain rom, it would slow to a crawl. Unfortunately, just like Windows, a fresh install does wonders as far as speeding it up.

I can't tell you the difference it made when I rooted and switched to Liberty from the stock update. Of course, I wasn't rooted before, but on the stock update, my phone was the biggest POS with random reboots all the time, sluggish performance and sub-par battery life. Since installing Liberty V3, all is good and I would say my phone is as snappy as anything else.

Just saying that you might try that and see if that helps.

I'm rooted, but on the stock rom. Never tried any other one, but have heard Liberty is nice. Thx

The Razr Maxx is interesting to me, but won't do moto since they haven't fix what is wrong with the x yet, those button lights staying on and Keyboard lag is sucky. Not going to reward them with my $ if they haven't gotten around to fixing one I have already paid for. Basically they broke it. It was fine when purchased, it was they update.

there are a lot of things that Moto has done (especially since the launch of the X) that I do not like...but its so hard to rule them out for my next phone because they have hands down the best hardware in the business...the software is not for everyone (but that would be a non-issue if they released a phone with an open bootloader)...but the hardware is just plain money...purely on hardware id take a RAZR MAXX over a GNex all day every day..

My DX is still running well, after after a year and a half...but I am looking forward to something with 4G and a real keyboard (perhaps sometime later this year?).

At this point a Droid 4 Maxx would be awesome if it is ever offered. Even better would be something similar to that with a 4.5+" 1280 x 800 screen, but it will probably be a while before we see a beast like this.

Till then, I'll most likely keep plugging along with my DX - its the best phone by far I've owned to date.

I'm waiting. The Razr Maxx looks interesting. Too bad the battery isn't user replaceable.
its somewhat of a non-issue with the MAXX considering the battery has over twice the capacity of the stock DX Battery and almost double that of the DX extended (1850 mah vs 3300mah) thats an impressive battery to say the least...

A Galaxy Note on Verizon might tempt me, but I am not sure I can go with a Samsung product mainly due to radio concerns.

We'll see what summer has in store for us.

thats my concern with leaving Moto...

1. Ive always had Moto phones back to my StarTac days...never had issues with Moto mobile devices

2. They just make the best hardware out there...

3. the rumored Moto/Intel/ICS device has me intrigued to say the least...

These 2 things!

My coworker is getting his Maxx Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to playing with it a bit. The rumored Intel Moto phone may be too far out for me to wait. I'm very impatient, but also like having the latest and greatest, even if it's short lived.

+1 I was tempted by the BOGO on the RAZR, but I'm waiting until after MWC to pick up my next device. Next device will probably be a tablet though...DX will get stripped down to the minimum to make it last until I can get one of those hot new phones on BOGO.

I'm posting this so I can put a link in a thread I'm trying to create (which is the only reason I joined the forum...to ask the question in that thread); however, in order to prevent spam, it told me links were prohibited in a first post and I should introduce myself. This thread had 40 replies, so I thought I'd post here.

Ironic that basically I'm spamming so that the forum can prevent spam, yes? K, now back to my thread. Let's see if I can post it.

LOL, Madmick007, yeah, that's just a feature to prevent real spammers (which you are clearly not).

I saw your thread and closed it for you...good luck and thanks for joining the forums with us--hope you'll stick around.

Cheers!

Looks nice, but how is LG for quality and updates? Never really knew anyone with an LG phone.
Looks like Sony just announced 4.0 for the single core older phone. If so, seems that ICS would work on a DX also. I don't expect ICS as I bought the phone and it works fine (now). Moto didn't promise me an update.

I have had a couple non smart phone LG's that werent bad. My wife has the LG vortex that she got for free...cant really expect much from a free phone but it still works...just slow.

If your rooted there is multiple true ICS ROMs out there right now. There is two ROMs based on CM9 (4.0.1 and 4.0.3) there is also an AOKP build that is very alpha and a MIUI v4 build that is very alpha right now. But ICS does run on the X, and ironically it runs very, very good, much better than GB.

The CM9 ROMs are very, very stable, especially the latest CM9 Beta coming off 4.0.3. Biggest problems at this time is ICS uses different camera binaries and libraries, so camera doesn't work at this time. Progress is being made, and at this time you can fool around in camera it just won't take pictures yet, but there is a fairly large amount of work going on getting fully functional ICS working for the DX. It won't come from Moto, but the dev community will make it happen.
