Help Anything later than 4.0.2 via OTA for VZW?

Looking forward to an official release, as my random reboots are becoming daily as well, in addition to freeze ups which require battery pulls. Its bad enough that I don't keep it in my Defender case anymore cause I got tired of praying it off every day. Lol!

I too have reboots but not daily (crosses fingers) .. I had my first lock up over night yesterday and I had to pull the battery.

Hoping for more stability from the update as I love my Gnex ..

I also had pretty good luck, the first month I had it, no reboots, but then one, 10 days later another, then 4 days later, then 2 on consecutive days. This behavior makes me wonder if it is a memory or cache issue. People who pile the apps in see the problem sooner, while people who like to keep their app level low, or reflash a lot, don't see it...

---------- Reinforces my practice of keeping my app count very low and being extremely selective on what I install.

No reboots here [yet...]
I live in the middle of a solid 4G coverage area, but the geography put me right on the hairy edge for both 3G and 4G. The GNex is currently less capable of acquiring 3G than the old DInc, and barely sees 4G. I'm hoping the new radios might improve that a bit, but suspect its a hardware issue rather than software.

Main issue for me is that within the Android OS usage I'm consistently seeing Keep Awake times 10x or higher than the CPU total time.

I am unlocked and rooted and am on 4.04 and have noticed better hand-off between 3g an LTE. I also have noticed a quicker change from wifi to data mode than previously. I have had no random reboots and do believe it has sped up the device as well as improved battery life. However, I have still had the one way audio issue since I flashed.

Perhaps this is the reason it hasn't been released yet. They are still working on a fix for it...

I still don't understand how one poster claims to have gotten 4.04 via OTA and nobody else has. Not to doubt him, but it does make you wonder how this could be.

Want a screenshot? I really got it over the air. Stock ICS non rooted, Verizon device. It's not a "developer" phone. It's a tester from Verizon. Basically, I'm testing this phone to see if it works with our company VPN and whatnot. Then I'll approve the Galaxy Nexus for our company to use company wide.

I don't think it's a special "developer phone" as it didn't come with 4.0.4. It came with 4.0.2, and I was prompted to update a few days after I got it, OTA.

Is there any specific place I should take a screen of to prove this?

For the non rooted users wishing to try 4.0.4 >>>OTA Update IMM30B 4.0.4 - xda-developers and for the rooted users>>>[ROM]IMM30B 4.0.4 Stock, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned, busybox, insecure boot + mods zips - xda-developers as everyone has said it is amazing the difference from 4.0.2 & 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. I have been using it since day one and havent looked back most 4.0.3 kernels are compatible but the stock kernel is amazing which i am using and getting great battery and signal. 4 full bars of 4g at 90% of the time where i was only getting 2 maybe 3 in a good area. I would highly recommend at least trying it out.

I suspect that your tester phone is somehow different. It would explain why yours is the only, non-rooted, non-developer phone that received it. Otherwise it makes no sense. Thanks for posting.

Does anyone know if you try the 4.04 update on a non-rooted phone, can it be rolled back to 4.02 if necessary?

I guess I should also ask what the procedure is for flashing this file?

I believe all you have to do is Odin back to factory 4.0.2 files. They are out there I'll get you a link in a lil bit to those files. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426207 if you want to go back to stock 4.0.2 these will get you there. and just a post or 2 ahead of yours i put a link to stick unrooted 4.0.4 just click and enjoy.

I've had it with my poor reception and I think I'm going to try this on my non-rooted, non-unlocked VZW GNex. I'm scared to death, but I have to try something. Will this wipe any of my stored data (photos, music, apps)? Also, if an OTA does miraculously and finally come to this phone (total sarcasm intended), will I receive the full update? FWIW, I've never tinkered with or hacked a phone before.

I donwloaded thje file for non-rooted, renamed it update.zip, put it in root of storage - how do I flash it?

I'm sorry to be a pest. What does "put in root of storage" mean. Currently I have the renamed "update.zip" file in my downloads folder. I assume I have to move the file somewhere else then proceed to the boot procedure. Also, how do you press volume up and volume down at the same time? lol

Never feel that way brotha. The root of your sdcard is directly on it not in any folder just drag the file straight over and your good the phone will recognize it.

Thanks for your help, but all I'm getting is a belly up Andy with an explanation point in a red triangle. It hangs there for a few minutes then boots normally. Probably best. I just hope the OTA comes soon or I'm going to throw this thing.

Sorry i couldnt help out more from a stock point of view, but if your interested in rooting your phone this is the easist way to do it almost 1-clickesque....and then you can simply apply the rooted version which i am running. [GNex TOOLKIT V5.3] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MUCH MORE [LTE] - xda-developers its really simple and full proof its actually how i rooted and its a newer version where it will flash CWR touch which is really nice.
