Help 2.3.6 Battery life sucks

UPDATE:

I discovered that I had Facebook updates turned on. Turned that off and now, my battery is lasting practically forever. :D

Overall, if I have all automatic updates for e-mail, etc. turned off, I don't have the serious battery drain going on. They are just things for which I don't need updates.

Also, when I review the graph, it appears that the most serious drops in batter power occur whenever I DO hit the wireless via a manual refresh on e-mail or FB or any other web access system.

In the battery usage tab, does it still say Android OS for you? Or is it now Display as the primary battery usage.

After reading this thread, I'm so glad I didn't upgrade to 2.3.6. Overnight, I lose about 2-3% in 7-8 hours. Battery goes almost 2 days with normal use. Compared to almost always looking for an electric outlet when with the Captivate this is a breath of fresh air. If I was having battery issues, I'd defintiely be looking at an extended battery

Nope I dont use it. and I have the problem.
I dont think it comes down to a particular app considering how many people are faced with the issue. It seems more like a core service.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone is on 2.3.6 and experiencing "Good" battery life without resorting to things like juice defender, etc.

This is what I did to test out what is sucking the juice:

-turned off wifi
-deleted Widget Locker
-did not use Bluetooth on commute into work
-did not check email on phone at all
-texted maybe 5 times at the most
-no phone calls made or rec'd

Unplugged from charging at 7am this morning. It is now 1055am and phone is at 77% :(

So annoying.

Display, typically. When I have the display set up on auto brightness, the percentages are about the same for each.

Generally, I have wireless turned off and all auto updates turned off for e-mail, news services, etc. etc. If you have to have them on, then set the time for updates as long as you can stand.

I think we need to be the squeaky wheel here guys.
Perhaps we can start here: https://twitter.com/SamsungMobileUS

Okies I tweeted my tweet as well...
Thank you all for the thread.. I don't feel alone anymore... In fact I thought the cause for battery drain was a defective battery, as my wife's phone battery lasts about a day and a half! And she talks a lot! (But she does not text much or go online)

I took my phone to the shop today (yesterday actually)... They replaced my battery, and... so far, the new one seems to be working a lot better than the one the phone came with...

Just FYI...;)

That is more than likely a fluke. I find the only thing that works for me is to reset my phone every day when I take it off the charger. When they replaced your battery they reset your phone, so you are probably benefiting from that and not the new battery.

Guys, see my post #97 here. I reverted to 2.3.4 soon after "upgrading" to 2.3.6 and my battery life has been fine ever since! The instructions may look a bit complicated, but they are not and they are easy to follow. Why turn off your wifi if you can revert to 2.3.4 and keep it on all the time, like I do? All my apps and settings were preserved during the rollback process. Note that I never rooted my phone, had a stock 2.3.4 that came with it from AT&T.

If it's too much trouble to go to my post #97, here is a link with instructions on the rollback process (just make sure to stop before step 8, do NOT do factory reset, it's not necessary and will erase all your apps and settings):

I777 here. Did OTA upgrade to UCKK6 right after getting the phone. Had the battery drain issue, was a lot worse at work than at home when on Wi-Fi, possibly more proof of the "dirty network" issue? Anyway, I followed the "how to return your phone to the store for warranty purposes" guide over on XDA to return my phone to UCKH7. Battery drain issue has thankfully gone away.

I haven't seen the AP Mobile Widget problems others have had on UCKH7. In fact, it doesn't show up under my list of running services, and it hasn't effected my data usage at all. How does this issue manifest itself for others? I seem to have dodged the AP Mobile issue somehow.

Also, I don't see a need to stop the OTA updater service from running, because it hasn't prompted me to update to the newer version. Does it automatically update without asking you? Or simply keep prompting you?

I've been back on UCKH7 for about a week now, everything's back to normal. On UCKK6 I could almost watch the battery life indicator slowly drain away.
