So, anybody carrying their phones around without a protective case? I am curious how the Gorilla glass has been holding up in the real world, as well as the funky plastic battery cover.

I am also curious because I am in between cases. Waiting for the Seidio Surface to arrive in the mail and replace the Castmate POP I am using. I would like to go naked with the phone :)D) for awhile and enjoy the slimness of the phone, but I'm curious how others have fared .

Please chime in.

Although I've used this and the Captivate naked, I realize that I'm not super careful so I've used screen protectors of different types. I'm currently using something called moshi Ivisor. It's supposed to be washable and re-usable. It also installs without a single bubble. Jury's still out tho as to whether I'll keep using it.

I use a large-ish case (larger than phone) to protect the phone in my purse. The phone is naked the rest of the time. I don't want anything to change its lines or its slenderness. I like its shape and how slim the phone is so i don't do anything to bulk it up.
I've dropped it a few times - no harm done to the phone.

I'm too much of a wimp to want to run around with my galaxy without anything on it - perhaps it's my age, but I drop things more & more here lately.

I've used otterboxes on other phones, the defender series which I wish they had for this phone

I went with: Ballistic AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 SG Hard Case on Silicone

I also bought some screen protectors. So far I've enjoyed the case and it's taken several spills and all is well.

i've been naked since december 2010 (with my original galaxy s). though there are some minor scratches, it's not very noticeable and not a big deal to me.

i've dropped this phone plenty of times, and i even shut the door on my vibrant about a year ago.. yet these phones are not even close to breaking.

what's the point in spending $20 for a case, so that you can resell the phone 1-2 years later for $20-30 more? right now, a mint vibrant will go for about $150ish, when i could sell my "good condition" phone for $125ish. plus, i rather enjoy my phone the way it was meant to be used.

iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II Drop Test - YouTube

that's how durable the gs2 is. and if i do break it, it can probably be had for $300 via craigslist and $350 via ebay.

from personal experience, this phone can take quite a thrashing and still work as usual. it's one of the biggest reasons why i chose it.

That is exactly how the ATT sales rep said these two were different as far as durability when I asked about cases. My daughter has Iphone and he said ti buy a case. I have the GS2 and he said no need to buy a case based on durability.
