Root What's the latest ROM to use?

I've flashed my phone twice, but despite that I'm still a hopeless noob, so I'm begging for guidance here.

I rooted my Fascinate and flashed Community Rom 2.1 last summer, then wiped it and switched to Powerwashed 20 beta 3 in October. Since then the phone has been slower than with Community Rom (and scores significantly lower in Quadrant), and will also lock up if I try to use Google Maps. And 2-3 times a week, at seemingly random times, the phone just lock up, requiring me to hold down the power button and volume button for several seconds to get it to reboot. Battery life isn't that great...I usually have to charge it before the end of the day.

Thus, I'd like to start from scratch again, but I haven't been following developments for the last few months, and honestly don't have time to try to catch up, nor re-learn all the technical terms that normally fly over my head anyway. (Just read about "ICS" but have no idea what it is, and terms like "radio" and "kernal" make my brain hurt).

Can someone give me a quick and simple answer: What's the best ROM to put on my Fascinate now? Just looking for whatever will make it clean, fast, and allow things like GPS to work.

Currently my "About phone" shows:

Hardware version: I500.4
Model number: SCH-I500
Firmware version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: S:i500.04 V.EC09
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: SCH-I500.EH09

The Powerwashed file I used was called "powerwashed_20_b3_Full_ec09modem.tar.md5", and I also used "atlas_v2.2.2.pit" although I've completely forgotten what the latter was for. For Clockwork recovery I have "CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery c2.5.1.x", whatever that means.

Guess I should also mention that I use my phone a lot for a variety of things: Web browsing, nav, games, phone calls, e-book, office docs, email, music, Groupon, etc., and occasionally for videos, camera, texting.

Remember, answers in noobspeak would be very much appreciated. Please ask if there's any other info needed to help me.
