which case to get?

A. Otterbox Commuter. No overbulkization.
B. A carrying case for my belt, with a strong belt-loop, + two belt hooks.
The cover folds over the top which protects the phone from raindrops.
My carrying case could accomodate a much bulkier cover, with the thickened corners. I may decide to upgrade to this later, but for now, I've spent too much money on all this already.
C. ifrogz stylus. Nice, soft tip. I was tempted to use a stylus for a Nintendo DS, but the tip seemed far too sharp for my screen protector.
WARNING: Do not buy the belt cases where the phone is released into your hand with a simple snap.
TRUE STORY: A guy was waiting with his girlfriend in a movie theatre line. He felt someone fumbling with his phone, kept in such a carrying case, clipped onto his belt. He looked down to see a little kid attempting to ease his phone from the case.
When he reacted, similar to how most of us would react in such a situation, his dad standing nearby yanked him away by the arm, to haul him off to wait in the car until the movie had ended.
The kid could be heard screaming, "but I just wanted to show him how easy it is to steal it!"
Hmm...maybe my carrying case might accomodate one of those Miniature Pinscher dogs, sans the bulkier phone cover...

If someone is going to get a case i really recommend the sgp cases, especially the sgp hybrid case
SGP Samsung Galaxy S2 AT&T Case Neo Hybrid Series - GALAXY S2 [AT&T] - Samsung - Cell Phones

Comes with a screen protector, i never used mine. and while i dont use the case all the time, i use it when i may be going on trips or something when my phone is more vulnerable. this is the only case i will use, still relatively thin with a nice silicone backing

Barely there by CaseMate. That's as minimum bulk as you're going to get, but it's mostly protective against things like scratches and such if you drop your phone. The bulkier ones might help, for example, if you ever plan on throwing your phone against the wall (you'd think those kinds of things don't happen by accident)

I went with the Otterbox commuter myself.
However, I got the one for the international version because I already had a Skinomi screen protector (I like wet application) and it was almost $10 cheaper.

The case has an extra hole on the top left side above the volume rocker where the Euro version has a either a lanyard hole or extra canceling mic (depending on the info source) that the i777 does not have. Other than that it's the same.
The screen protector has a cut out for the home button on the Euro phone so that's definitely not wanted on the 1777 but as I said, I already had the screen covered.

Case or not, I'm scared to keep this phone in my pocket while I'm working. I pave roads & driveways for a living (very physical) so my phones can get quite abused. I think this phone will stay in my backpack. Close by but out of harm's way.

...who throws your phone against the wall. Or into an aquarium, the pen where your neighbor keeps his pitbull, under a street-sweeper, etc..

Can't beat this case:
1
BLACK GEL TPU HYBRID COVER CASE FOR AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S 2 II I777 | eBay

... this coming from a guy who has bought 4 different cases for his phone because he can't choose which one works best. Here is my review on the others and why they are not currently on my phone.

-Ballistic case (bought at AT&T store)- good protection, just to bulky

-Casemate with kickstand (bought from cellguru.com)- very sleek but the rubber on the sides began to wear off after a while, poor material, it was a shame because I LOVED THE KICKSTAND!!!

-Black TPU Skin Case (bought from eBay)- fit phone decently, made for the international version though, therefore there is a little slit in the side to accommodate for their noise cancelling mic, also the slot at the bottom was not quite large enough to fit my micro-usb car charger (biggest frustration)

I am looking into getting a case. As of now I am leaning towards the otterbox.

A few questions though:

1. Is their a serial number or something I can search for to find the specific case for the AT&T version? I seem to keep on finding the international version when I search it.

2. Where is the best place to get the best price?

3. If you had to choose a cheaper option (seems that the otterbox is about $25), which case would you recommend?

I have 2 cases so far and I plan to try out quite a few more. I'm a case guy. I like changing things up from time to time.

I first bought the S line TPU case for a couple bucks. First nicely and had a nice grip on the sides. Only complaint is there's not much shock absorption. I really like it though.

Then I decided to spend a bit more and hot the Seidio Active case. LOVE it. Silicone inside cover with a rubberized hard shell outer covering.

It collects a lot of lint though. In hoping I can find something like it that is a dual layer construction yet doesn't collect lint.
