Hi guys,

I've been testing out the new MIUI 2.2.24 update swiperrat recently uploaded and it's really awesome!

I haven't noticed any chinese characters in the contacts area like in the previous one, Andy's extended settings is also included -- very cool :), and the toggles settings fc issue has been fixed. I haven't had any force closes yet and I've been messing with it for over 8hrs.

With that said, I did find three issues, two minor and one major. The minor issue is with the front facing camera showing a green screen with lines, but that can be resolved by lowering the quality ... so no big deal, and the ffc is upside down ... also no big deal since I rarely use it.

My major issue is that it's not detecting my sd card. Several other people are having this issue also. I am currently using a 32gb sdcard but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Other than that, the update is very smooth and seems quite stable, but you may want to hold off flashing this one until the sd card issue gets resolved.

I installed that rom 3 days ago and I made a nandroid and I have no idea why people weren't able to read their SD card. My phone's SD card worked just fine. I was able to listen to my music that I had on the card and move things around using my file manager. Hm.

Yeah I only tried MIUI once. I actually really liked it, but not having an app drawer was kind of annoying. Maybe I should give it a try again. I thought the performance on it was great and the theming was obviously very cool.

The lack of an app drawer used to annoy me too, but the extended settings includes a drop down app drawer you can enable or disable.

Are you using a different SD card from the one that came on the phone?

Yes. I'm using a 32gb Kingston class 4 SD card. The phone came with an 8gb Sandisk class 2.

Okay, like I told someone in another thread it might be your memory card. He also had a different SD card from the one that's was provided and was having problems with it not being read on this rom. It's just my assumption.

I'm running the 2.2.17 build (since I didn't want to mess with the SD card issue) and I'm noticing something odd.

Let me say that I am a Battery Monitor Widget junkie. I am obsessed with how much my battery is drawing at all times. When in use, my phone will normally draw at about -150 ma to -225 ma if I'm doing something intensive, like a game. Then while sleeping, on wifi I'm anywhere between -19 to -23 and in the -30 to -40 range on 3G. With this ROM, I get crazy readings but I don't seem to really have any battery drain, so I think it might just be a weird incompatibility of BMW to work correctly with MIUI. I can't figure out why this would be.

Over the last hour or so of not using my phone, my 3G idle readings are all over the place....anywhere from -90 to -160, but my battery % is still the same. Weird. I haven't used MIUI very much, so maybe this is just one of its inherent problems. I was alarmed at first but now I guess I'll just ignore it.

Have you tried extracting the MIUI camera and lib files from a previous version of MIUI and installing it? Not sure if it'll work, but I used an extracted MIUI camera on all the other AOSP ROM's i've tried since i didn't like the stock AOSP camera, and at the time the stock AOSP camera didn't come with FFC, so it was "doubly" handy ;)

In the typical menu>settings>applications>manage applications listing, is there a setting for compatibility mode for the BMW app? I can't remember if it was MIUI or Xplod that had that setting in the applications listings, but it worked for some apps. Just something to try anyways

What does compatibility mode do?

No I haven't tried that, it sounds like too much work for a lazy person like me. Besides, I don't use the ffc so it doesn't bother me.

I appreciate the advice and maybe someone else who sees it may able to use it. :)
