Giving up on Razr.

I need hotspot. My original Razr phone. would start and stop the WiFI randomly. Replacement #1 refused to assign DHCP Addresses
Now, #3 cannot maintain a connection to a hotspot, much less be one.

3 out of 3 defective. Motorola cannot handle WiFi.

I'm curious what's happening to you. I just signed up for MHS to connect my kids mother blu ray to it for Netflix thru the blu ray player...and its been working fine.

And what update are you on? I'm on .173.

I do remember there were hotspot issues reported by users before updates to the phone. Updates may have made it better.

I am on .173, on the original and the two replacements. There is another known issue with the Hotspot, and WiFi apparently, that is being worked on, with no ETA.

Wait a min...you mean using the RAZR as a hotspot with Wifi? If so...I never tried that. I do it over 4G. I also have unlimited data too.

Am I understanding you right?

I mean using the Razr as a Hotspot to allow other devices to access the 4G data network.

Have you tried Foxfi in the market? It's been working for me on my Razr.

JRoc makes has reminded me of something, the Razr can't be connected to wifi AND be a hotspot. For it to work as a hotspot it must be connected to either 3G or 4G. If you in range of a wifi network, make sure you're not connected.

I have used the RAZR official hotspot regularly at work since I got it with no problems and occasionally at home. If I am connected to Wi-Fi it will automatically disconnect and reconnect to 3G or 4G signal when hotspot is started so my PC client gets it's Internet connection through the cellular network.

Does this happen with one specific client or multiple clients? It could be the client that has the issue here...

All clients. Verizon acknowledges it is now a known issue, now, being worked on by Motorola, no eta My DInc worked fine. It is somewhat Razr build/hardware dependent.

No such hotspot issues for me on several devices: iPod, View, Thrive and two laptops. Not tried any at same time though.
