Xperia S Review

Yes, the reviewer seemed overly harsh and contradicted himself a bit too. He was complaining about the limited Playstation experience but didn't mention that the Playstation Store doesn't go live for the S until mid March.

I'm not sure how the phone can get 7/10 for design. I think it's one of best looking phones out there. A lot of phones all look very similar now. At least Sony are trying something new.

Anyway, he's not put me off - I actually liked a few of the things he was moaning about.

I'm amazed by how many biased and contradictory reviews are appearing, e.g. calling the Xperia's technology outdated and that it should have come out last year but they still recommend the iPhone 4S, which isn't as powerful.

As far as I can tell, quad-cores are being used as a marketing tool as "quad" sounds bigger and better than "dual". I'll get a quad-core next year when there are better processors, enough software available to take advantage of it not just drain the battery quicker and there is noticeable difference in performance between them and the current high spec dual cores.

If it wasn't for Xperia S I may have well been tempted to get the HTC One X myself. Looks and spec wise it's a very nice device indeed, though there is just so many things I like about the Xperia S to be lured away.

Regarding reviews of the Xperia S. Most of the reviews I have read have been generally positive, apart the odd one or two, like (verge review) for instance. The only worrying thing is that in nearly every review I have read is how annoying the capacitive buttons are, and this seems to be the only thing that let's what looks to be a great smartphone from Sony to be it's achilles heel.

Still getting one though, and i'm sure i'm going to love it.

I was really looking forward to this phone, but after a couple of ropey reviews it has put me off a little, apparently Engadget's isn't going to be great either..

I'm not getting too hung up on the lack of ICS as i'm sure it will come, however I am starting to look at the One S as an alternative, but that comes with a few negatives aswell.

Decisions Decisions....

How nice was the screen just out of curiosity?

I'm no expert, I tend to compare everything to the iphone 4 screen as that's the phone that I used the most in the past, I would say it was fine, not as clear but the screen size made it easy to read, I didn't get more than a few seconds with it as the battery went flat. Its only the size that puts me off and I think I would drop it often. Also the camera lens thing at the back takes away from the esthetics, it doesn't look right on the white one. I would have preferred it to be flush.

From videos of the xperia s I have seen I would say the s is a better screen but then what do I know?
