Android 4.0.2 Rolling out now

How do I navigate to system then app in the file manager? I downloaded a file manager but system is not located anywhere and I even tried a search for MarketUpdater but nothing came up. I assume I'm missing something here. Kinda a noob with phone stuff like this but would like to try the renaming trick for now.

You'll need to be rooted to use that solution.

However, I'm hearing that the Google Play market update resolves the crashing issue.

I am still stuck on 4.01, i hear people getting updates at random times, some got it months ago, some in january, some got it few days ago...

as of me, and many other peeps, still no update whatsoever.. The weird thing is that the Nexus brand should get updates directly from Google, that's one of the reasons why it's called "pure Android". However, updates seem to be rolling out on a random schedule with no logic behind..

You might not like Apple and the iPhone, but when those guys put out an update EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE gets it at the same minute, same second...

Something to think about for Google....

PS: I just switched to GN (my 1st android) after using iPhone for 4 years. Love GN, but got to be more consistent

Not completely random, and with a very specific logic. The updates are done regionally. One region gets rolled out and when that is done they move on to the next region. Within each region it rolls out randomly or based on IMEI number or some other variable. This is a very typical process by which software is distributed. It also allows for Google's servers to not crash on release day when 2 million people click 'check for updates' all at the same time.

They do come directly from Google's servers and it is still pure Android. One panic ridden story about regional builds a couple of months ago by a conspiracy theorist and imaginations ran wild. Google seems to do the first build and released it as a soak test to make sure everything runs smooth. Samsung appears to be involved with changing radios and languages after that. Personally I'd rather google work the real coding rather than mess around with the minor stuff. My yakjuux is every single bit as "pure Google/Android" as any other build. All this is exactly how the Nexus S worked but you didn't see people running around saying it was not "pure google" or "doesn't meet the definition of a Nexus." These myths are frustrating.

Agreed wholeheartedly. ICS is awesome, and I'm just thrilled with 4.0.1, but the subsequent rollouts have been absolutely plagued by bugs. Google/Samsung QA needs a shakedown.

Still on 4.0.1 here, I suspected that the update has been stopped so they can look at the market+NFC issue in more detail.

Even though the official solution from Samsung on their mobile Facebook and Twitter pages seems to be the factory reset. But if the update was stopped prematurely, that would only be for the subset of users who got the update before it was pulled.

So for everyone else it seems the waiting game is in order, here's hoping future regional firmware rollouts are more smooth.
