My wife has been having a lot of radio issues with her gnex (mine hasn't which I find wierd). Some of them include while on a call, all she hears is loud whitenoise; Sometimes during a call she will fade out, sound very muted. She has had issues with voice mail and the proximety sensor not disabling the keyboard when doing voice mail prompts, then putting the phone up to her ear, etc. Most of these require a reboot to clear. This is her second phone. She went into a corporate store a couple of days ago, and was able to reproduce the problems with static/mutted sound. The kid was nice, and sent an email to his tech support, as these are apparently known issues, due to be fixed in the next OTA. He got a response which I've pasted below (emails scrubbed) which I thought was kind of interesting. I don't know how accurate it is, as I don't know who he contacted, so grain(s) of salt may be required.

Those things are not "bugs" otherwise we would all have them. Your wife's phone is defective and should be replaced. I have never had any of these problems. If this was a bug, the problems would be all over this and other boards.

Things like signal strength, 3g/4g handoff, etc. Those are bugs. Reports are all over the net (and the fact that updated radios are in the leaked versions of the upgrades confirms it).

I'm going to have to agree with Tim K here. I would be a little insistent on getting a replacement phone. Because these are manufactured in large batches, there are times when quality control issues creep in and a specific lot exhibits the same problem. Since you don't have these problems and not too many others report them either, I don't think a firmware update will fix it. Unfortunately by that time you may have problems getting them to replace it under warranty.

While the rep at the corporate store was probably well meaning, corporate tech support will give you a song and dance before they do anything. Sometimes you just have to stand your ground.

I hope we can be of some help to you and your wife.
