So this phone comes with Maps, ATT Navigator, Latitude and Navigation. Isnt MAPS all i really need? And why cant i just delete them?

Also, i have 3 app stores. Whats that all about? Samsung Apps, Play Store and featured apps.

Do i have to root (is that what its called?) this phone to get rid of all this extra crap? I want to transfer my music to my device (note) but i have no idea where to put it since i have 3 music/media players. Now i downloaded doubletwist when im being told that Kies air and transfer my music? Whats with all the options?! Im confused :(

You have to root to get rid of them, or use GO Launcher and "hide" them so you don't see them. Maps, Lat, Places, and Nav all work together. Without Navigation you wouldn't be able get voice directions. I use Maps to find a place, I use Nav to get there. I have Places and Latitude hidden. Not sure what ATT Navigator is, but does sound like something you could get rid of if rooted.

Put all your music in a folder called "Music" or "MP3", any player will find it. Usually there's only one default Player, you can add as many as you want and keep the one you like. I don't use Kies, I just drag and drop via USB. Nice thing about Android, lots of free options... easy to root... but be careful of what you get rid of, a lot of default stuff is needed. "App Quarantine" is a good app to "test" what turning off (deleteing) an app will do (must be rooted).

AFAIK Maps, Navigator and Latitude is one app, just differing services. If you find a place with Maps, if you tap on Navigate it will automatically open the Navigate app for the voice guided instructions and stuff. Maps only offers the list of directions. Latitude is a location updating services where your friends can find out where you are at the moment. You can't remove one without removing the others.

ATT Navigation is something ATT put. You can remove it no worries I suppose.

Play Store is the Actual Google Market, so you get apps there. Samsung Apps is a Samsung run app store. Don't remove it. You can get paid apps for free there legitimately (not pirate). Dead Space for Android sells for something like $5 in Play Store (its in the .49 promo for now though), Samsung Apps offers it for free last I checked (not sure how long that promo lasts, I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago). Some Gameloft games like Assassin's Creed was offered for free there some time ago. Featured apps is probably something from ATT.

Other places to get paid apps for free legitimately is the Getjar market and Amazon AppStore.

If you do root to get rid of the bloatware, just be aware that you shouldn't outright delete it, as it can cause problems during firmware upgrades.

That's correct. OP, there is a risk that AT&T would build something into the OTA update that checks for those redundant apps, and won't proceed without them; it's happened before with some Motorola devices, on Big Red IIRC.
